(At the party)
Camila and Epifanio were not the first to arrive at the party. Many other guests were there already. They went inside. Many recognized the couple, others didn't. The guards, disguised as servers, looked around for Vienna. She was nowhere to be found.
Cortez, who wasn't even invited, went as well. He told security that he was there on orders and should be let in. The men let Cortez in. 'Perfect. Plenty of people around so they won't notice through all the confusion. Now, we wait,' he thought.
Epifanio grabbed a glass of wine for himself and his wife. He sat down across from Camila. He handed he the glass, to which Camila accepted taking a sip from the drink.
"I've been told that there is no sign of her anywhere here," said Epifanio.
"Yet?" Camila asked.
"Cortez is here. From what I remember, he wasn't asked to come."
"Why I-"
"Watch it. What do you think people would think of if they heard the governor's wife saying something like that?"
"You are so lucky that I love you."
Epifanio laughed at her remark. She wasn't wrong. He was lucky to have a wife like her. He couldn't imagine what it would be like if he had to go to war with her. Just then, the song he requested started.
"Care to dance?" he asked his wife.
"Alright," she responded.
(Outside)Cortez snuck outside to the back of the building. He had received a message saying that is was urgent. He went to where he was required. 'Now's my chance. Just a little longer and I can strike,' Cortez thought.
"General, as you know I have called you out here on urgent news. I need you to take care of something for me," said Vienna.
"I have some news of my own," he replied, moving closer with his hand behind his back. "It is rather important."
"Well don't hold your tongue idiot. What's gone wrong?"
"Nothing except for.... You," he said, stabbing her in the stomach. "Sorry, but I have my own plan and I can't let anyone get in my way. Besides, I need their trust. This will make me less of a suspect."
"Y-you bastard," were her final words.
Cortez ordered his men to take care of the situation. He then went to Camila and Epifanio. As Cortez headed inside, he saw the two dancing hand in hand. 'I see no reason as to why I can't break this event up.'
"Governor, I have some important news for the both of you," Cortez told them. "Come, we must speak in quiet."
"Alright," said Camila.
