Chapter 22

SO FAR IN THE BOOK....

Tress, an alpha rogue, escapes from the Midnight Pack territory, after winning the title of an undergroud fighting arena, and straight into enemy territory (Crissford Pack) where the Alpha's son turns out to be her mate. Due to the incident that happened when she is 16 and which results in the birth of her son, she is reluctant to recognize the mate bond with Jason, the Alpha's son. However, the Alpha's daughter Sarah and her cousin, Chloe befriend Tress. Recognizing her superior fighting skills, the Alpha of Crissford Pack offer her to become the Pack Trainer.

On the other hand, there is a threat of an all-out war between the packs, as the rivalry between the Crissford Pack and Midnight Pack reaches its peak. The hunters, who wish to exploit the situation to wipe out all werewolf shifters, form an uneasy alliance with the leader of the rogues, Eric and plot to kill Tress. Unbeknownst to Tress, the denizens of Hell are after her as she is the only daughter of the Hell Hound and is destined to take her real mother's place to serve Lucifer, the master of Hell. 

A misunderstanding causes the rift between Tress and her mate Jason to increase. Tress cuts off all ties with Eric, her trainer and mentor and his minions, including Eric's on-and-off girlfriend Kala. However rejection only angers Eric, who turns crazy and issues orders to kidnap and kill Tress. Kala, escaping from the rogue camp, warns Tress to talk sense into Eric and give in to Eric's demands but Tress refuses this preposition and turns a blind eye to the plight of rogues. At the same time, as she goes into heat, Tress develops strange magical powers that she decides to hide from everyone. Frightened by her feelings for Jason, Tress forms a strange friendship with Jason's nemisis Zach, an Alpha of a neighbouring pack. An incident in the past, causes Zach to kill the only girl he has loved and he fears that he might have killed his mate, so he sympathizes with Tress. As the relations improve between Zach and Tress, Jason grows angry and jealous. 

 Zach senses a strange scent and follows it (thinking its his mate). Tress follows Zach but she is attacked by some grotesque creatures and is saved by Jason. During her illness, she dreams of a woman who gives her a pendant to protect Tress. As soon as she wakes up, her affections towards Jason becomes apparent and she and Jason reconcile. 

While Zack's pack send a team to find him, a missive sent by the Midnight Pack arrives to lay down conditions to avoid war, led by Tress's brother, Sam and his two pack members. As the Crissford Pack refuses to accept the demands, Sam has to return, but not before he rejects Sarah, who happens to be his mate. 

In hell, a witch who is an adversary of the Hell Hound, approaches the Master of Hell and delievers him the location of Tress. The Hell Hound escapes her bonds to warn her daughter. Back in Tress's world, as she returns to her house to prepare for a coming war, her father, the Alpha of Midnight Pack, catches her off guard and blackmails her to hand over the war plans of the Crissford pack or watch her son die. Helpless, she agrees to save her son.

The Hellhound reaches out to her daughter through telepathic link and shows Tress all her past lives and tells her the truth about her parentage, leaving Tress confused and disoriented with only one fact apparent. That she is the Hell Hound.
