Chapter 9

Part 2

Mierde!

The two Spaniards watched as the Vengeance loaded its cargo. Each were dressed neatly and had a cane in their hand. One was a little taller than the other. His long black hair was tied in bows neatly resting behind his neck. He gazed at the curly haired man who was shooting orders at the crew.

“That must be Eyston. . .” he whispered to shorter comrade. The smaller man had curly black hair that floated right above his ears. He was wider in the stomach than his friend and his pants covered a huge scare that ran up his left thigh. He leaned heavily on the cane. He had a scar that ran on his right eyes corner.

“Yes my friend but where is she?” He said low scanning the deck for their target. He had yet to see the person of interest. If he did not see her his report would only be half of what it needed to be. His eyes the locked on the figure he was looking for.  A medium sized woman with long raven black hair that curled at the end, deep green eyes and a pearl white smile.  She locked eyes with the two men and he hit his friend in the ribs.

“Smile and wave reassuringly.” He whispered. The taller man looked in the same direction his friend was and grinned when he saw her. He waved at her and she waved back at the two of them. The crew untied the boat and it started to float away. The men watched making sure to note in which direction the vessel would be heading. The smaller gentleman watched the girl and noticed that the pirate captain jumped down from the upper deck onto the tiny balcony. The man picked her up and spun her. She seemed to be smiling and enjoying it. They went into the room and disappeared. “Mierde. . .” he said softly to himself.

                                                                     *****************************

Nacio Ramanos stood leaning against a window staring at a dirt road which lead to his house. He had been waiting three months for any news on his daughter. He had sent men to every Pirate port he could think of to look for her but none had turned up anything. He was starting to despair. He told the king of his plight and the Pirates threat to kill her. While the king was sympathetic, he did not come to his aid. The majesty had promised him one of his finest ships to go and get her when Nacio located Eyston’s ship but he had yet to do so. A young maid knocked on the door lightly.

                     “Lord?” she said hesitantly.

                     “What is it?” he growled.

“Your mother. . . She is doing better according to the doctor. He is going to go home and return tomorrow to check on her.” She said as her whole body shook terrified. The master had been irritable since the abduction of his only child. He turned, nodded and dismissed her by waving his hand. She went away as fast as her feet were able. His mother had not been the same since the news of Angelica reached her. She went into deep morning over the child she had help raise and then fell into a deep depression. Nacio tried his best to raise her spirits but all he was able to do was have a doctor watch her through her illness. He sighed and sat down at his desk and looked at his paper work that he had been neglecting. He had no taste for business at the moment. His mind could not help but think about all the terrible things that monstrous man was doing to her. Another knock came at the door.

“CANT I BE LEFT IN PIECE!!!” He screamed as the same little maid came in.

“If you please sir two men come from Veracruz they say that they have news about your daughter.” His eyes got wide as he motioned for her to show them in. He stood up as the two men entered. The handsome man with his hair tied in bows walked behind the smaller man who limped.

“Andrea” He said looking at the taller man, “Ignacio.” He said looking at the smaller gentleman.

“We found her sir. They just left from Veracruz heading towards Italy, or they seem to be by the direction of their ship.” Said Andrea with a big smile, Ignacio sighed and started to fidget slightly.

“What of my Angelica?” Nacio asked desperate to hear about his daughter.

“She is fine and looked well, no bruises could be seen nor blood. . .” Ignacio paused. The father clapped in triumph and rushed to his desk as he put ink to paper.

“You both shall be rewarded as soon as I send a messenger to the palace instructing the King that I will be needing that ship” He wrote furiously.

“There is one thing Lord. She was happy with him or at least looked happy with him.” Ignacio said nervously not certain if it would be received well. Nacio stopped and looked up registering what he just said.

“Of course she does!” He exclaimed “She is manipulating him to make sure he doesn’t kill her. My girl is brilliant!” He continued writing madly. Ignacio didn’t have the heart to tell him that was not what it looked like instead he just nodded as said,

“Of course, how stupid of me Lord.”
