Chapter 24

Legends are Real

Daniel’s hair was laid back neatly. He wore a bright red British uniform. Alyssa cried as she kissed the top of his head. She whispered something sweet in his ear and then backed away. The canvas bag was put over his head and Robert began to sew it up. He did the last stitch in the bag and then handed the needle to Thomas. Thomas put the needle through Daniel’s nose as was the tradition on the sea of both pirates and naval men. The last one was put through the nose to make sure the sailor was actually dead. George and Chipo picked up the body as McGovern played a bugle in salute to the dead officer. The men took off their hats as the two Africans plunged Daniel into the sea. Nathanial cried along with the majority of those on board. Angelica held Nathanial in her arms trying to calm him down. Eyston walked over to his family and his arms enveloped them. Alyssa sobbed and clutched her stomach. Chipo held her as she cried, looking awkward as he held her. Thomas beckoned the two near him.

“You shall sleep in our cabin until you are ready to be alone.” Thomas said. Alyssa nodded and headed to the edge of the boat and looked down at the sea. Angelica put Nathanial down. Nathanial frowned and looked up to her pouting

“Go play with McGovern. Uncle Robert is steering the ship and I need to talk to daddy.” He nodded and walked over to McGovern who handed him the bugle much to Nathanial’s delight. Angelica went to her and Thomas’s room positive that Thomas was once again pouring over that map. She busted in and saw him hunched over on his desk looking at it. Her ears turned red angry. “Why are you pouring over that!?! It’s a myth, a legend. It does not exist!” She cried as he looked at her.

“It is real. I know it is. . . Just like I know the Council of Kings is real. . .” Shutting the door Angelica moaned.

“What is the Council of Kings? I don’t even know what that is.” She sat on the bed arms crossed glaring at him. He stood up and walked over to her.

“The Council of Kings is when the rulers of the greatest nations gather and discuss there nations policies and wars ect. They gather on the island of Elba off Tuscany.” Angelica shook her head.

“How can they gather when England, Spain, France, and Italy all hate each other?” She raised her eyebrow. “It is a legend just like the Bloodstone.” She hissed. Thomas laughed.

“No it is not for I have been there!”He exclaimed. “Captain Hodges was hired to take the King of England there for the meeting. I saw them all there gathered. They lie to their people telling them they are leaving for vacations or matters of state.” He chuckled. “This Council determines the fate of many nations and we my dearest on are going to hold that fate in our hands.” He stared at her with greed in his expression. That stare frightened her slightly, but she shook it off.

“What are you planning?” She inquired standing up looking at him. He grinned.

“The Bloodstone is the most powerful weapon on the planet. And the Council of Kings holds the most powerful people in the world. And put these two together and my plan will unfold.” Eyston laughed loudly. Angelica sat back down and put her hands on her head

“So one thing is true how do you know the bloodstone is true?” He sat down next to her and dipped her down on the bed and kissed her deeply.

“Because my wife if it is not true then a story about it would not exist. It was lost, just like the chalice of time. But we will find the bloodstone and create a legacy for our family and security for future generations.” He smiled as she looked up into his eyes. They were not going in and out. All of his features were calm. She sighed knowing she was not going to change her husbands mind.

“Just promise me that you will stop if it becomes too dangerous.” She pleaded looking up at him. He laughed.

“Yes my wife.” He kissed her again.
