Chapter Five: "Party Girl (Part One)"

Saturday

EIGHTEEN. THAT'S HOW MANY missed calls from Grayson. Twelve. That's how many unread messages from Grayson. Twenty-two. That's how many missed calls from Ethan. Eight. That's how many missed face times from Ethan, and Fourteen missed calls.

I ignored all of it. I would've thought that they would've given up by now, but nope. The calls and messages just kept coming. Maybe they thought that if they blew my phone up, I would give in. That wasn't the case. I needed my space and time away from them. Everything that they were doing was so overwhelming, and I couldn't handle it.

I felt like Mel. She still hadn't come out of her room yet. I didn't blame her. Twins could fuck your mind up. What was so special about me though? I was just like any other fat girl in California. Even though I could rock any outfit, I was still just as overweight as them.

My phone buzzes, and I wonder which twin it is now. I roll over to see the screen. It was neither. It was actually Perri, by my surprise.

Perri: There's a party tonight at Grant Morrison's place and we got invited.

Me: What!!?? On what?

Perri: On my whole family and my dead Gerbil!! He and Max are actually good friends. You coming?

Me: Tonight tho? I really don't feel like going out.

Perri : It's going to be a good ass party. You're coming! We're picking you up at 8.

Me: Okay, but I'm not drinking. Liquor is disgusting.

I look at the time. It was currently six O'clock. I had only two hours to find something to wear. I wasn't even sure if I had anything.

I still couldn't believe that, I was invited to Grant Morrison's party. He and my sister had some pretty crazy history. He was a school fuckboy, but his parties were absolutely amazing.

I wasn't entirely in the mood for going out, but maybe getting away from all of this was good for me.

I try on a few dresses. None of them were speaking to me, so I enni, Minni, mine, moed to make a decision. Somehow I got stuck with a one sleeved fitted red dress. It wasn't all that bad. I was just happy to finally come to a decision.

My hair was a totally different thing. It was going to take a whole hour to curl it. Luckily, I had time.

I had already talked to mom about the party, and she didn't care. After it was over, I had planned to go home with Perri. Usually she got wasted and could barely hold herself up. I was kind of the sober sister.

Her mom didn't really care what she did. She was understanding since she was a teen once. I liked parents like that. They weren't too up tight. Honestly, kids are gonna do whatever they want, either it's when they're a teen or the second they get out and get their own place.

It was now 7:45. The calls from the twins had slowed down and had mostly become messages. I still hadn't opened any of them. I wasn't that curious of what they were saying.

I hear a car honk from outside. I quickly gather my things and head out the door. No one was home but Mel now. Mom and Dad had a dinner party, so they weren't going to be back until later.

Perri opens the door for me. "You look hot."

"Back at ya," I reply.

Max was checking his hair in the mirror. He flipped it back up and we both do our handshake that we came up with in debate club.
