Chapter Twenty-Nine: "PROM BITCH"

Baby Girl's POV

I STARE AT THE beautiful prom dress on the rack in guilt. What I had been desiring to know, I finally knew.

My baby bump was growing bigger and bigger by the minute. I hold it tightly, whispering words to it. I knew who the father was, and I was still lost. What was I suppose to do now? Have a shotgun wedding? I didn't want to be with someone on the sole purpose that they were my children's father. I wanted actual love.

"Jade, hurry up you have to leave for pictures in an hour!" Mom calls from downstairs.

I sigh. I didn't even want to go to prom anymore. It wasn't my thing. I was sick to my stomach, and I could barely stand.

"Jade-" mom bursts in, stopping midsentence. She looks overwhelmed. She cried at every dance that Mel and I ever went to, and it was kind of tiring.

"You look so beautiful!"

"Mom, don't cry. Okay? I- I don't have the time."

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing," I lie. "I just don't want to go anymore."

"Awe honey, but it's senior prom," she smiles.

I roll my eyes and plop down on the bed. I was sure that Grayson was on his way to pick me up any minute, but that wasn't what I wanted. I wanted to sleep. Forever. I didn't want to die, but I didn't want to deal with life's problems either.

"Can I please not go?" I ask in a begging manner.

"What about Grayson?"

"He can just go with Ethan and Mel!"

Mom gives me a look. I could tell that she wasn't for the idea of me not going to prom.

"The limo is going to be here any minute. I really think you should go."

"Come onnnnnnn. I don't wanna," I whine.

My room door opens. Mel stumbles in looking like her usual self. I had gotten so used to her in makeup that her being dressed up for prom was no different from her every day attire.

"Baby why aren't you ready?" she asks angrily. "We're suppose to take pictures in twenty minutes or so."

I fake yawn as if she were boring me. I wasn't going to the fucking prom, and I meant it.

"I'll pass," I say turning on the television.

She looks at mom, and mom shrugs.

"She's pregnant. I can't compete," she jokes.

I try not to laugh. I had become difficult ever since I got knocked up.

The jingle to the doorbell rings throughout the house.

"See? Now they're here!"Mel scolds. She stomps out of the room in her heels, slightly wobbling. She would be lucky if she didn't break her neck. She knew that she couldn't walk in heels to save her life

"So what do I do?" I ask mom.

She shrugs. "I guess you've got to do some explaining."

"Please don't make me!"

She says nothing else. I then knew that I would have to endure the torture of facing the twins myself.

I unhappily make my way downstairs. The twins had on correlating outfits. The two of them along with Mel and me, had planned to wear red. Though now I felt as if I had spoiled our plans.
