Here is the notice promised for those that skipped the previous chapter: this is never something that should happen. I'm fully aware of that, and it is something I am not a fan of. With that being said, my hopes is that the inclusion of this will call attention to how awful it is. I want to call people out on r**e so that our society will stop protecting them.
The plot element revealed is that the bartender is the one who spiked her drinks both times and he is facing criminal charges
"What the hell?" He looked at me, and I shrugged with a smile. "Why did you get me a gift?"
"Maybe if you open it you'll understand." He raised an eyebrow as he grabbed the bag. As he opened it, he raised an eyebrow as he pulled out what was inside.
It took all of two seconds for him to realize what he was holding. "No way. Really?" He looked at me excitedly, and I nodded with a smile. Soon, I was engulfed in a hug. "Oh my god!"
"They found it in my bloodwork, and then they took more blood to double check. It's real." I smiled widely, and he looked like he was on cloud nine.

"You suck." I chuckled as I sat back down on the couch.
"What? I just wanted to share my happiness with the whole world."
"Okay, well then I'm blaming you when my mom asks why the internet found out before her." He rolled his eyes as he pulled me closer.
"So, did the GHB affect anything?" He bit his lip, and I sighed. I had asked that question myself.
"Most likely no. The amount of GHB in my blood was too small to be transmitted to the baby, even though it fucked me up pretty badly. Plus, they think the baby isn't far enough along to have developed any vital organs to damage."
"That's good."
"It is. And the police told me that because I was pregnant, even though both he and I didn't know it, it's a higher charge they can give him. He could face even more time behind bars." He kissed my cheek at that.
"Were they able to tell how far along you are?" I could tell he wanted to change the subject from what happened last night.
"No, they can only do that after measuring an ultrasound, and I knew you'd want to be there for that." He pressed a kiss to my cheek, and I grinned. "I have a question for you."
"Yeah?"
"With the wedding being five months away, I'm gonna be decently bigger." He raised an eyebrow, wondering where I was going. "I know you haven't seen my dress, but it is pretty fitted around the waist and belly and I don't think it'd flatter me while I was pregnant. Plus, I think it'd be pretty adorable if our child was in our wedding somehow."
"Are you suggesting that we push our wedding back?" I nodded, biting my lip at that. "If that's what you want to do then that's exactly what we'll do for the wedding. Plus, a little baby flower girl or ring bearer would be adorable."
"Absolutely." I smiled, pressing my lips to his. As we pulled away, I smiled at him. "I love you, Tom."
"I love you too, Grace. And our little bundle of joy." He gently rested a hand on my stomach and I grinned and leaned against him.
A few days later, the two of us were at a doctor's appointment with an OB/GYN. I had explained the situation of how we found out to her, and she reassured me that they could test to see if anything happened after the incident at the bar. Tom was holding my hand the entire time, and I could just see how happy and excited he was about the whole thing. The doctor came back in with the test results, and she smiled. "Good news, Grace. Nothing seems to be wrong in your test results."
"That's amazing to hear." I grinned, and she smiled as we began setting up for the ultrasound. For a while, there was just anticipation as she set up the screen, but as soon as an image appeared, it took my breath away. "Wow..."
Sure, because I wasn't far enough along, there wasn't much of an image, but the doctor was able to show me that a strange shadow that appeared was actually our baby. Tom squeezed my hand, and when I looked back at him, I could see a tears welling in his eyes.
Yeah, maybe we were a cheesy couple, but we didn't care. "How far along would you say we are?" Tom looked at the doctor with a grin.
"I'd say roughly four weeks along, and I'd give you a due date of May 29th." She grinned at the two of us, and I nodded as I squeezed his hand. Pushing our wedding to the fall or winter of next year would guarantee that I would have recovered from the birth and have lost a good bit of the baby weight (if not all of it). "I know there's not much of an image, but would you guys like me to print out pictures for you?"
