I woke up a few days later feeling like absolute shit. I groaned and snuggled more into Tom, and I could tell that I woke him up. "How the hell are you hungover? You had one glass of wine with dinner last night." His voice was deep and raspy, something I noticed more and more after we started living together.

"I'm not." My voice was hoarse as I spoke with a sore throat, and I sighed. I could also feel how clogged my nose was, and I knew it could only mean one thing. "I think I'm sick." He pressed a kiss to my forehead, and his lips stayed there for a bit as if he was checking my temperature.

"Feels like a fever. I'm sorry, darling." He whispered, pulling me close. I maneuvered so that we were spooning because I didn't want to get him sick.

"It's okay." I coughed into my elbow, letting out a sigh.

"Do you think you can eat something?" His voice showed a sense of compassion, and I nodded.

"A little." He could hear how rough my voice was, and he shook his head.

"No more talking. I can tell your throat is so sore, and I don't want you to irritate it any more." I nodded as I coughed again, and he kissed the back of my head gently before standing. As soon as he let go of me, I suddenly felt really cold. "If you want, I can light the fireplace and you can sit on the couch wrapped in a blanket while I make breakfast." I nodded, carefully standing up as he grabbed our big and fluffy throw blanket from the foot of our bed and wrapped it around my shoulders.

After he led me to our couch and I sat down, I grabbed the remote and turned on Brooklyn 99. We had started the show from the beginning again and comedy often made me feel better.

Admittedly, the last time I was sick was when I was a freshman in college, so this was not fun for me. About halfway through the episode, I noticed a tray placed in my lap. The tray held a bowl of oatmeal, a piece of toast, a banana, a mug of tea, and a thing of cold medicine. I smiled up at Tom as he pressed a kiss to the top of my head and set a box of tissues by my side. 'Love you.' I mouthed to him, and he grinned.

"Love you more, darling." He sat down next to me, and I cautiously laid my head on his shoulder.

We sat in a comfortable silence as I slowly worked on my breakfast, the only sound being our TV and the occasional noise from Tessa running around. After a bit, I glanced over at Tom to see that he was smiling widely at me. I raised an eyebrow, and he pulled me close. "You're so adorable all wrapped up like this. I know you probably feel like shit right now, but I just want you to know that I adore you, as always."

I grinned, smiling as I took a sip of my tea. I pressed a gentle kiss to his temple so I wasn't breathing directly in his face, and he smiled gently. "Are you feeling a bit better?" I nodded gently, yawning a bit. He grinned as he took my tray, setting it on our coffee table. "Get some sleep, love. It's good for your immune system, especially when you're sick." I nodded as I yawned again, laying my head on his shoulder again. He seemed to understand what I wanted him to do, and soon we were in a position that was comfortable to sleep in.

I let my eyes flutter shut, but right before I let sleep consume me, I felt his lips against my head and heard his soft whisper. "I love you so fucking much, Grace. I hate that you're not feeling well, but I'd do anything to help you feel better." For the first time, I fell asleep sick with a smile on my face.

When I woke up a few hours later, I could feel Tom's steady breathing as he slept. I grinned over at him before slowly moving out of his grip to take another dose of cold medicine. As soon as I swallowed the cough syrup, I heard Tom stirring. He looked up at me and smiled. "Do you feel like you can eat again?" When I nodded gently, he smiled. "Good. My mum brought over some chicken soup after I told her you were sick. It's in the fridge, but I can warm you up a bowl."

I nodded with a grin, and he smiled. Soon, the two of us were sitting with bowls of warm chicken soup, and I smiled after taking a bite and pulled my phone out.

Thank you so much for
bringing over the soup you
made, Ms. Nikki. It's
delicious, and I'm feeling
better already. 😊💖

Of course, dear. And please,
Nikki is just fine. I'm going
to be your second mum soon
anyway. 😊

I smiled as I set my phone down after thanking her, and Tom grinned. "My mum really loves you, you know. She came over while you were asleep, and she told me she was really happy that we had each other." He was beaming as he spoke, and I smiled and placed my hand on his as I took another spoonful of soup.

Two days later, I woke up with a grin. I was feeling back to my normal self, and I couldn't be happier. I hated being sick. I pressed a kiss to Tom's cheek, and he opened his eyes gently. "Morning, baby." He smiled at that, but that was soon gone when he coughed.

"Damn it." His voice was softer and rawer than it usually was in the morning, and I sighed.

"I got you sick, didn't I?" He shrugged at that, but I pouted as he coughed again. "I'm sorry that you got sick while making me feel better."

"Don't be. I'd get sick caring for you again in a heartbeat." I could tell that his throat hurt too, and I kissed his forehead.

"Shh, don't strain your throat too hard. I know it probably feels like it's on fire." When he nodded, I gave him a small grin. "Are you gonna be okay if I'm the one spoiling you for once and making you feel better?"

He nodded again, and I smiled. "Okay, baby."
