Thirty-Five

After a week of being home, Tom and I were sitting on the couch as Annabelle napped in her crib. We had her baby monitor on the coffee table, and I was sitting on his lap as we kept an ear out for her. "This has been a long week, but I couldn't be happier." I smiled, pressing a kiss to him softly.

"Neither can I, my darling." He smiled as we pulled away, and he pulled me close. "I'm kinda tired though."

"Oh, definitely." I chuckled gently. Annabelle wasn't sleeping through the night yet, so we were waking up during the middle of the night.

"You're doing so amazing, though. I'm so proud of you."

"Thank you, baby." I grinned softly. At that, Tom's phone started ringing.

"Hello?... No, we haven't. We just put Annabelle down for a nap... yeah, I'll tell her to check too... Alright, see you later dude... Bye."

"What am I checking?"

"Ryan's Instagram. Says we'd like to see his newest post."

"Twenty bucks says it's about Beth." I chuckled, and he shook his head.

"I'm not gonna bet you that because I'd probably lose."

"Fair enough."

"I'm so happy for them." Tom smiled, and I nodded softly.

"Me too. They're so happy together, and I love it so much." I grinned, and he nodded. I pressed a kiss to his cheek, and he smiled.

"I love you so much, darling."

"I love you too, loser." I chuckled, and he shrugged gently. As we sat, he slid his hand down my waist to my inner thigh. I looked back at him, and he winked gently. "Our daughter is sleeping in her crib in the room next to ours, you know."

"Yeah, and we've gotten pretty damn good at being quiet." I smiled at that as he started pressing kisses to my neck. He started gently sucking on the spot he knew drove me crazy, and I took a deep breath.

"Fuck, Tom..."

"I wanna make it all about you, darling. What do you say?" His voice was low and husky, and I let out another deep breath.

"Okay." I looked back at him, our eyes full of lust. The next thing I knew, he had me pinned up against our bedroom wall.

Right as we finished fucking and I had gone to the bathroom, I heard Annabelle crying from the next room over. "I got her," I said softly, getting dressed as I caught my breath.

"I got the sheets." I smiled as I kissed his cheek as I finished, walking into Annabelle's nursery.

"Hi there, baby girl." As soon as she saw me, her crying got quieter. I smiled as I picked her up, immediately taking her to the changing table. Once I finished changing her diaper, she smiled up at me and grinned as I took her into the living room. 

Tom joined me on the couch as I fed Annabelle, and he smiled as he kissed my head. "Gorgeous." He grinned, and I smiled. At that, my phone rang.

"Hey, Ali! What's up?"

"Are you busy, Gracie?"

"I mean, I'm feeding Annabelle right now, so I got a good chunk of time where I'm just sitting."

"Are you with Tom?"

"Yeah."

"Put me on speaker." I raised an eyebrow as I looked up at Tom, putting her on speaker. "Tom?"

"Yes, Ali?" She took a deep breath, and I immediately grew concerned.

"Hon, is everything okay?"

"Yes, love. Everything is perfectly fine. In fact, it's better than fine. I was wondering something."

"Okay...?" We exchanged a look, and she took another deep breath. 

"This is not something you guys have to say yes to, by the way. I will totally understand if you don't want to do this."

"Ali, what is it?" As she talked and asked us her question, wide smiles grew on both of our faces.

"So, what do you guys say?" We looked at each other with a smile, and Tom nodded.

"Of course, Ali. You're more than welcome to do that." I heard her breath a sigh of relief, and we smiled.

"Thank you so much, guys. I know it's a big request, especially with everything else that'll be happening."

"We're happy to help you, Ali. You guys mean the world to us, and you know it." Tom smiled gently.

"Thank you. I'll let you guys spend time with your precious little bundle of joy now." As we bid our goodbyes, Tom smiled. 

"I love you, darling."

"I love you too." I grinned as I pressed my lips to his, and he pulled the two of us close. Once we pulled away, Annabelle decided that she was full and I burped her. Once she did, I smiled and held her in my arms. She smiled up at Tom, and I chuckled. "I think that she wants her daddy now."

"Come here, princess." Tom smiled as he took her in his arms. Much like 'darling' for me, 'princess' had become his favorite pet name of our daughter. As he held her, I laid my head on his shoulder.

"I know we did this a little backward, but I wouldn't have it any other way." I smiled up at him, and he grinned as he pressed a kiss to both of our foreheads.

"Neither would I, darling. Neither would I." I smiled, and I saw Annabelle smile gently. Sure, she was so young and it may have been my imagination every time I saw her smile, but I like to think she could smile.

I sure could.
