The morning came around and I woke up to someone cooking in the kitchen. It smelt good, but I wasn't sure who it was that was cooking. I went downstairs after changing to see Elena, Damon, and Lily at the table.

"So, if I understood correctly, um, in order to free my companions from that place where I was trapped, we'll need the magical device." Lily asked standing up.

"Oh look it's Emma." Damon looked at me as I walked over.

"What's all this?" I asked curiously.

"I made breakfast. Would you like some?" Lily asked as I smiled lightly. She seemed like a really nice person.

"Yeah sure." I nodded as she started making a plate.

"So, Damon about that device..." Lily began as I sat down next to Elena.

"The Ascendant." Damon replied.

"Yes. The Ascendant. Where is that?" Lily asked curiously.

"Safe. Very safe!" Damon answered awkwardly as I looked at him unsure.

"And we'll also need a celestial event." Lily added. She gave me the plate and I thanked her.

"We'll have to do some digging, yeah. Be patient, they take time. They're very rare." Damon explained, but it wasn't very true. I was starting to think he didn't want to go back there, but I wasn't really sure why.

"There's a full moon coming up. Will that work? If not, the Lyrids meteor shower is in two weeks." Lily asked as I looked at her surprised. How the hell did she know all that?

"Well, look at you. If you're not a one-woman Farmer's Almanac." Damon replied sarcastically. I wondered why he was being so sassy with his own mother.

"Actually, I took your advice, and I've been dabbling on Stefan's computer. What a wondrous invention! All that knowledge." She sighed lightly as she poured herself a glass of orange juice.

"And videos of cats riding robot vacuum cleaners." Damon added with a smile.
Suddenly, Elena's phone beeped, and she looked at it. She let out a gasp in shock.

"Everything okay?" Damon questioned.

"It's Jo. Someone's been attacking people at Whitmore." She said worried.
Damon sighed. "Let me guess-- one of them's blonde, and the other one liked turning people into human Pez dispensers?" I took a bite of my food and looked at Elena. I wasn't sure if I should join her or not.

"That's exactly what I'm gonna find out." She replied. She stood and turned to Lily with an apologetic smile. "Thank you so much for breakfast." She thanked as she put on her jacket and walked out.

"So today's to do list, mommy dearest is going to get Stefan's humanity back." Damon started looking from her to me. I had my mouth full of food and I looked down. "Are you coming?" He asked curiously.

"Do I have to?" I asked in reply after swallowing my food.

"I'm confused. Why would you not want to be there after?" Lily asked looking to me confused.

I looked at Damon and then to her. "Umm, yesterday I found him hooking up with the blonde girl." I answered as I stuffed my face more.

"Caroline and Stefan-" Damon started. "Wow." He added shocked.

"Thank you Damon for your kind and supportive words." I sarcastically replied.

"If it seems like too much trouble I don't think she should have to go." Lily spoke up as he looked to her.

"I think you should. He's gonna want to see you after he's himself." Damon shrugged lightly.

"Or he's going to be too guilty to come near me." I replied, and it seemed like all three of us knew that was possible.
