Chapter 13

       Kat woke up, her eyes wide, though she didn't know why. Kat yawned, and got up, irritated by the way she felt. It was a weird feeling, like she was forgetting something very important. Kat shrugged it off in a instant. What could be so important that she would forget about it? Nothing.

Kat got dressed, and went into the kitchen. 

"Hey guys" Kat greeted as she settled down in a chair. Dipper greeted her with a warm smile.

"So, are we going to tell her?" Mabel asked, looking at Dipper. Dipper glanced at her and nodded. Kat's irritation peaked again.

"What do you need to tell me?" She asked.

"You were asleep all of yesterday" Dipper began, looking awkward. Kat raised a eyebrow.

"And, we went out and found a secret laptop" Dipper explained. Kat looked hurt for a moment.

"And nobody thought to wake me?" Kat asked, annoyance flashing through her. Dipper gave a apologetic look.

"We thought you needed the sleep." Kaylie butted in, giving her a guilty look. Kat's irritation faded.

"It's ok, I'm just kind of upset that I missed everything"  Kat said. 

"Here's all that you missed." Kaylie said. The other's explained everything to a very shocked Kat.

"Wow, I missed a lot of important stuff." Kat conceded, feeling a bit jealous.

"Oh, it's ok. Hey, we're going to the library, because Soos fixed the laptop. Do you want to come?" Dipper offered. Kat immediately nodded.

They were at the library finally. Kat had felt tension in the air the whole time they were walking to it, but now that they were here, the tension that had weighed in the air lifted, and they had sat down with the laptop.

"Ok, this is it." Dipper said, sounding determined. Kat's heart beat fast as they started the laptop and it started.

"It's working!" Mabel exclaimed. Kat smiled. This could unlock major secrets in Gravity Falls.

Then it beeped, and a password screen showed. Everyone groaned.

"Really!" Dipper exclaimed in annoyance. 

"It's ok Bro bro, with everyone here working together, we can-" Mabel trailed off as her gaze landed on a boy.

"Oh no" Dipper muttered. Kat and Kaylie exchanged a look. Kat silently agreed with him. Mabel tended to have a crush of the week, and it was a little annoying to see her get like this. Kat rolled her eyes as she watched Mabel go over and talk to boy. She came over again after a few minutes and squealed.

"Guys, do you think it's possible for me  to write and compose a sock puppet rock opera with lights, original music and live pyrotechnics by Friday?" Mabel asked cheekily.

Kat just stared at her with disbelief.

"Mabel-" Kat started gently. She was cut off by Dipper.

"Mabel! we need to focus on the laptop!" Dipper exclaimed, a little anger in his voice.

"I'll help you if you just help me for this little thing!" Mabel begged.

"No. I'm not helping you Mabel." Dipper said, a look of guilt flashing in his eyes for a moment.

"Fine! Kat and Kaylie will help me then!" Mabel yelled, dragging Kat and Kaylie away. Kat was too tired of this stuff to even protest, but Kaylie protested enough for the both of them.

Kat sighed. This was going to be a long week.

Kat grabbed the box of stuff, and load it into the car's trunk. It was Friday, and they were loading the stuff into the car to be dropped off at the theater. 

Dipper suddenly walked out with Mabel.

"We read the script. Very emotional." Candy said to Mabel as soon as she saw her.

"I cried like eight times." Grenda added. All of a sudden, and breeze went through the air, and the boy Mabel was chasing after was there with roller skates. Kat glared at him.

"Hey ladies" The boy said, winking.

"Gabe!" Mabel exclaimed happily. 

"Oh, so that's his name" Kat thought, rolling her eyes.

"I was just bladin' by. Helps me dry out my ponytail after a shower." Gabe explained. Kat scoffed. Ignoring the rest of the conversation between puppet boy and love struck Mabel, she waited until he left.

"GWAAA!! We gotta up our game, girls! Did you hear that thing he said about the stitches?!" Mabel panicked.

"Not really." Kat muttered. Mabel shot her a look, and then went back to yelling.

"Don't worry, Mabel, your crew can handle it!" Grenda assured Mabel, holding up a sock puppet of herself. She then accidentally ripped it.

"Oops." Grenda said. Kat face palmed.

"How many eyes does a face have again?" Candy asked, holding up a puppet filled with eyes.

"Two" Kat answered.

"Thanks" Candy thanked.

"Don't mention it" Kat muttered. A scream from the car alarmed Kat. The pile of things had fallen, and Soos was under them.

"AAA! Okay, I'm back on fabrication. Get me my lint roller!" Mabel screamed, running back over in the direction of the shack. Dipper stopped her.

"Whoa, whoa! Hey, you just said you were going to help me!" Dipper complained. Mabel shot him a look.

"DIPPER! This sock crisis just bumped up to code argyle! The laptop can wait!" Mabel shouted.

"Mabel, do you seriously think that your random crush of the week is more important than uncovering the mysteries of this town? You're obsessed!" Dipper protested. Kat thought that he had a point.

"I'm obsessed? Look at you! You look like a vampire! And not the hot kind!" Mabel exclaimed. Dipper instinctively rubbed his bags from his eyes.

"But you said you were going to help me today!" Dipper repeated.

"Oh, I can help you. With tickles!" Mabel joked, tickling Dipper. Kat stifled a laugh as  Dipper punched her hand away.

"Okay, fine! You know what? I'll do it on my own!" Dipper shouted angrily. He stormed back into the shack. Kat stopped what she was doing and started to walk, but Mabel held her back.

"Hey, what are you doing! you need to help me?" Mabel demanded. Kat glared at her.

"I'm going to see your brother Mabel. How could you not see how tired he is? If you would help him and not just think about yourself for once, then maybe this would never have happened" Kat yelled.

Mabel stepped back, shocked. Not waiting for a reply, Kat whirled away, and slammed the door of the shack.
