Magnificent. That's exactly how you would like to describe the room in front of you. It's now a simple room without much furniture in it besides a luxurious desk, computer and bookshelf in it. 'I wasn't even done with the furniture myself. I just never really come into this room because you know, a laptop, sofa and a drink is fine by me.' You look at Tom and smile. 'Yes, I get that. But uhm, where does that door lead to?' You point at a door at the right side of the room. There is a lock on it. 'Well, this is originally listed as a bedroom so it has a bathroom next to it.' A private bathroom? That's a thing you could only dream of when you were growing up.

'What colour do you have in mind for the walls?' Tom asks you and you are not so sure yet. 'I was thinking of turquoise, baby green, or forest green because then we can turn his or her room in a forest like room. I don't know what you think of that but I saw something like that on Pinterest.' Of course you searched for ideas and that app is full of it. 'Forest themed, huh? That's great!' He walks further into the room and you watch him visualize how he would put things. 'I can see it.' You hum and start explaining what you would like to see in this room. 'It won't be your standard nursery.' You both laugh but you are on one line here and that's exactly what you want. If Tom didn't like it, then you'll search some more. But now that you both see this happening, you start getting excited about actually working on the room.

It's past two in the afternoon when you're on the sofa with Tom and a big glass of water, a bowl of crisps and a laptop on Tom's lap. You're searching for furniture on webshops of different stores. 'This cradle. How much is it? It's adorable!' You point at a wooden cradle from Ikea that has the colour of the bark of a tree. And so it goes on for at least three hours. After that, you're both done with looking. 'My eyes. They're burning.' You joke and rub them gently. 'So much baby stuff.' You quickly add.
'But at the bright side, we do know what we want now.' The beginning is here.
You smile and agree, softly resting your head against his shoulder. A soft kiss is being pressed on your head before he opens his e-mail and starts reading the most important ones. 'Oh, look! He will send me the first part of the movie in a few days to see if it's ok. Not that I have much say in the finished product but they do appreciate my comments.' You let your eyes scan the page on the laptop and to be honest, even you are getting excited. 'Wow! That's great! Can I watch with you?' He nods. 'I can't see why not.' He has twinkles in his eyes as he says that, excited that he gets to show you what he has been working on for the past year.

Later, you stand back in the room where your baby is going to sleep. One hand on your belly while the other is touching the wall, visualizing every detail you want in this room. You can see yourself putting him or her in its cradle, changing the diapers and playing with him or her in this room. You want stuffed animals on the windowsill, fragrance sticks on the closet and a painted forest on the wall. You can see it all.

'Just a few more months away, sweetie. Then I can hold you safely in my arms, take care of you and love you.' Somewhere on the internet it said that talking to your unborn baby on a daily basis, will make it recognize your voice once it's born. It will be easier for him or her to acknowledge you as mother or father. You want to live up to that advice because you want it to feel safe. 'I love you so much, even though you're not here yet.' You whisper and take a seat in the desk chair that is in the room. 'Your life will be full of adventure, I promise you that.' You close your eyes and hum a song softly while you rock yourself a little in the chair. For as much as possible. You don't notice Tom, leaning against the doorpost with his arms casually in front of his chest. He knows you haven't noticed him but he doesn't mind. He likes watching you this way. He just feels like he finally met the right person to share his life with. Screw the age difference and the scandals. He loves you, more than anything and it's about time he's going to make it official. He just needs the right moment and maybe this is it.
Of course he doesn't want to take things too fast but how long have you been in his life, romantically? It's almost a year now, perhaps already one year.
He fiddles with the little box in the pocket of his pants. Is it the time?
