Dating is one thing but marrying is something entirely different! As soon as the news came out, dozens of newspapers, gossipers, talkshows, etc. were talking about your engagement to Tom.
'I couldn't really believe it when I heard the news. I mean, she is much younger than him and now they're getting married!' She looks rather shocked when looking in the camera. 'Don't forget they have a child together, too!' They make it sound like it's out of this world, something that doesn't belong.
A giant photo of Oliver is shown and you don't know how you feel about that. They never asked for it to use it on their show. But then again, you're only watching this because it spiked your attention. You don't need to see how they are once again, hating on you.
'It is a very adorable baby. But, don't you agree that it was better for Tom and perhaps also for the girl if he found someone of his own age? Or perhaps someone who wasn't, I don't know, a fan?' Are they still on that? They really are astonished by the idea you started out as a fan. It's like they don't see that fans are people too. They make it sound like celebrity's and fans are completely different species. Is status really all that matters these days?
Without waiting for an answer from the co-host, you shut the tv off. You don't need this bullshit right now. You don't know how to deal with it. You smile at Oliver who is laying in your arms. You just fed him and made him burp. Tom is somewhere in London for a charity event with Benedict while Tom Holland, your new made friend, is keeping you company.
'Get used to it, {y/n}.' He says, sighing while getting a hand through his brown hair. 'They will never stop. When they find the slightest thing about you, they make a full report about it. Just wait until you actually want to make a name for yourself.' Ah, that's right. You told Tom about what you wanted for the future. A job you really want. Your Tom doesn't know that yet but you are planning to tell him, tonight.
'It's a hard world. But I want to work in it. Tom seems fine, you seem fine so why can't I be fine? I have both of you to support me through it all and a few more. Scarlett, Elizabeth and even Benedict although I'm not sure if he really likes me.' You think back of that text back in Greece.
'I will be here for you! I will get you through it but that doesn't mean it's not going to be nasty at times.' You nod. 'Of course.' You understand. Of course you understand. You have been dealing with hate ever since you and Tom went public so might as well shove in their faces that they can't put you down.
'Now, let me see that ring again.' You laugh and give him your hand. He carefully takes it and stares at the ring. 'That's what I call a ring.' He chuckles and you pull your hand away from him again. 'Stop joking!' He flashes you a wide grin but shuts up about it.
That night, Tom comes home late and you see that he is a bit tipsy. When he kisses you, you can taste the beer on his tongue but you lovingly kiss him back. 'How was your day, darling?' You ask him and listen to everything he has to say, using his hands to emphasize certain events. 'And that's where Tilda, you know Tilda, suddenly stood up and got on stage to give a speech. She had nothing prepared and she wasn't even called to come up stage but she just went ahead and started talking! It was amazing!' You're glad he had so much fun today.
'And I may have had one drink too much but I will just sleep it off.' He says like it's nothing. You don't care. You've seen him in a worse state than this. 'How are you and Oliver?' You smile and plop down next to him onto the sofa, throwing your legs over his lap. 'We're fine but I want to talk to you about something. I don't know if this is the right time but I want to get it off my chest and we can continue on this subject tomorrow morning.' You start rambling and you see the rosy colour dropping from his cheeks. 'Should I worry?'
You shake your head as you press a soft kiss on his lips. 'On the contrary! I want to start acting. Like you! Although I have no idea where to start..' He's taken aback by your words for a moment but his face soon lights up again. 'That's great, sweetheart! I think I can push you into the right direction although you have to build your career all on your own.' Yes, obviously. 'You don't see this as a silly thing? I don't want you to feel I took advantage of you in any way.' He laughs amusingly while pulling you onto his lap. 'Advantage of me? How? We're getting married! No! Just drop that thought! There's nothing silly here.' With content you get a hand through his hair.
'I love you.'

Several months later you find yourself in a bride's boutique, turning on a lot of dresses until you find the perfect one. Your mother, your best friend, Tom's mother and sister are with you and they all gasp when they see you. Your mother even tearing up.
'I guess I've made up my mind.' You say after staring at your reflection for a few minutes. 'I know it's a long time away but I will hate myself if I don't buy this one.' You keep staring at yourself while the woman who is helping you, adds a beautiful veil to your hair to complete the look.
'Yes, this truly is the dress.' You say. You don't want to take it off but you have to, to wrap up and take it with you. With a slight lump in your throat you pay the price but once outside, you squeal with the people you brought.
Happiness. It's a strange feeling and you've never quite experienced it this intense. You never knew that happiness could be so strong. You always thought it had some kind of line. A modest line.
'What are you thinking about?' Your mother asks you when you're at a restaurant later to have lunch. 'It's just.. I never thought I would be here, you know? I always thought I would end up with a crappy job and a few dogs or cats. Dying alone.' She frowns at you but you shake it away. 'How depressing.' She observes and you nod. 'Kind of but that's a very common thought. More common than you think. And I don't think that anymore. I have a wonderful family, a wonderful fiancé and a life I could only dream of a few years ago.'
She reaches out to you, tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear. 'Your happiness is everything to me and your father. We're so happy that you have found it.' She whispers what only makes you cry. You manage to keep it in and smile at her.
Oh how you can't wait to spend the rest of your life with Tom.
