"What do you mean?" Vanessa questioned, her heart hung low as Peter's face fell.
"I haven't got all my bad guys yet, Nessa," he sighs. "Don't be upset, please. I'm doing this to protect you and the rest of the city."
"Ever since we became... whatever we were at the start of our dating journey... I've just been against sharing you," she huffs. "I can't keep you for like another day?"
"Vanessa," Peter groaned. "Spider-Man hasn't made his usual appearance in so long. It isn't like me."
"I know," she sighs. "I'm sorry for holding you back."
"You didn't hold me back," he retorts, settling his hands on her shoulders. "You became my whole world so fast, I forgot all about my other half."
"You're right," she whispers. "You need to go. Go save the city, and probably the world, Peter Parker." He gave a small, warm smile before pressing a gentle kiss to her lips, leaving her alone in the Stark entryway.
A defeated sigh escaped Vanessa's lips, her heart in shambles as she watched her best friend and boyfriend walk away from her, with his heart determined on rescuing everyone he could. She smiled at this, realizing how kind and caring Peter Parker was. Then it dropped as she thought of the dangers he'd endeavor, feeling her soul crash and burn as she thought of his return being in a coffin instead of his suit and a bright smile.

She was going to help him. She had a goddamn power, for fuck's sake. She could finally put it to use, especially if it meant saving Peter as he saved the world.
Her backpack slumped on her shoulders, her face contorting, she examined herself. She placed her hair in a high ponytail, readjusted her sweatshirt and leggings to her liking, shoved her battered tennis shoes on her feet, and ran out under the night sky, phone in hand.
Her eyes scanned her surroundings, a dark cloud of vulnerability hung over her head as she entered dim alleys. Her heart was determined to find her boyfriend before he could cause any destruction and serve justice, hoping to keep him from what was once an inevitable death.
Grunts echoed throughout the tenth alleyway Vanessa had gone down. Her eyebrows furrowed, her body slouching behind walls and dumpsters as she followed the noises carefully and quietly.
Her heart dropped at the sight of two men, fist fighting over who knows what. They were obviously drunk and probably were unaware of the circumstances. Upset she hadn't found the person she'd been searching for, she forced the two apart with her eyes and watched as they scrambled for safety back in the bar they must've stumbled out of, due to the harsh unfamiliar wind that tore the two of them from each other.
Doubting herself, she huffed out an exhausted breath, upset she hadn't been able to find Peter within the two hours of her constant search. But as if the Gods finally heard her prayer, she stepped near another fight. This time more dangerous.
Red and blue flew across the battlefield that just so happened to be a half-full parking lot, the body slamming into the small building beside the lot that looked like an abandoned gas station. Her heart dropped as she saw him struggle to get back up.
A large silhouette came into view, but disappeared quick. Just as she was about to rush over to Peter, she heard the squealing of old metal, turning her head. She gasped as an old tractor that seemed to be used for some form of construction snatched and raised a car in the air, flinging it toward Peter's motionless body.
Her eyes strained, a tugging sensation warping her body. She stood as still and tall as she could, feeling the exhaustion that consumed her body increase rapidly. Just before the vehicle could touch Peter in a barreling roll, it stopped. Dead in its tracks.
The car fell just as Vanessa had, a heavy exhale leaving her lips. Peter heard it, suddenly able to move. His head snapped up and he watched as the guy attempted to run, but caught him with a web trap before he got too far.
He struggled to push himself up, gaining motivation as he saw Vanessa's body slowly relax. His concern accelerated upon noticing this, now running to her side. He slid next to her, feeling for a pulse. He found one but it wasn't steady.
"Fucking shit," he grumbled. "Come on, Vanessa." He grunted as he picked her up bridal style, telling Karen to send the police the location of the trapped criminal before taking off to find solitude in an alley.

"I'm sorry," Vanessa spoke as she was finally able to speak. Peter was out of his suit and in the regular clothes he packed in his backpack, a look of disappointment hung on his face.
"You shouldn't have chased after me," he scolds. "What I do is too dangerous for you."
"Peter, I can handle myself," Vanessa argues.
"Oh yeah, of course you can," he sasses. "You fucking passed out, Nessa. You could've died!"
"Did you see why?" she retorts. "I stopped a goddamn car from crushing you." Peter's face fell as he recalled what happened moments before, and he instantly felt guilty.
"W-what?" he stammered quite softly.
"That guy you were fighting? He tried to toss a car on top of you, but I used my telekinesis to stop him," she responds. "You would've been killed."
Peter's eyes squeezed shut upon hearing this, imagining his lifeless body laid out on the concrete. How Tony would react, his aunt, Ned, and Vanessa? Would this all strike tragedy upon them? Of course. How stupid could he have been to let his guard be thrown down?
"I'm sorry," he whispers, ashamed for yelling at her. He was now grateful for her showing up. "Thank you."
"I'm coming with you," she informs, looking up from the ground and into his eyes. "You're not telling me otherwise."
"If you die, I don't know how I'd be able to live with myself," Peter responded softly.
"Ditto." Peter held their intense eye contact, raising an eyebrow slightly. "I can help you. It's okay to have help."
"I appreciate you so goddamn much," Peter interjected. Vanessa gave a small smile, returning the sentence in her own words.
"Let's kick some ass, Parker."
