Chapter Twenty-Four: New Normality

Brushing some hair from her face, Analisa shivered as she looked at the snow that had started to cover the ground of her garden; she knew that Fernando was out in the woods and it made her wonder if everything was okay.

“Milady,” a voice asked making Analisa sigh as she turned to face the woman, she had been a little surprised that Fernando had been granted a lordship by the council; it had unsettled her slightly that she was being forced back into the court like style.

“I’ll be in shortly,” Analisa said making the woman nod before she left the brunette alone, the pups were now four weeks old and they had just learnt to walk and were enjoying the snow in the garden.

Emili stuck close to her mother while Josep was a little more adventurous, the brunette kept a close eye on the twins as they padded around; she didn't want them disappearing into the forest in case they couldn't be found.

Analisa was wearing a cream cape sleeve jumper and blue selvedge boyfriend jeans paired with black leather ankle boots and black hooded coat with rose gold zip details; she sighed as she pushed herself to her feet making the pups look at her.

Emili hurried back to her mother’s side making her smile and pick the lighter pup made a small noise as she was lifted from the ground by her mother; she cuddled into her mother’s warmth before Josep padded back to Analisa’s side.

However a sudden howl filled the air making Analisa move closer to her son’s side, her eyes scanning the forest line before she sighed relieved as Fernando appeared.

Josep scurried towards his father making the werewolf chuckle as he collected his son; he looked at his wife, who offered him a small smile.

“Is everything okay?” Analisa asked as she waited for Fernando to catch up with her, she was a little curious about why he had been out in the woods; she knew that it would be serious and it made her worry.

Fernando nodded his head as he led his wife back into the house, he didn't see any sense in worrying her about nothing if he could solve the problem without her knowing.

Watching the pups settle down for their nap, Analisa couldn't wait for them to finally take their human forms; she sighed as she walked out of their nursery and headed towards where she knew Fernando would be.

The brunette didn't believe her husband when he had told her that everything was okay, she sighed as she walked into his office making him look up at her.

Analisa closed the door behind her as she raised an eyebrow at her husband; she hadn't wanted to say anything while the pups were still awake; however she didn't like that he was keeping things from her.

“You want to tell me what’s going on?” Analisa asked as she crossed her arms, she knew that he was trying to protect her but she didn't like being kept in the dark about what was going on. Fernando stared at his wife before shaking his head.

“There’s nothing going on,” he lied making her purse her lips; he didn't want her to worry about what was happening, he wanted her to stay unaware of the trouble that was building.

Analisa sighed as she walked towards Fernando, she hated that he was keeping her in the dark and it was starting to worry her about what he could be hiding from her.

“Nando please,” Analisa said as she rested a hand on his arm, however he pulled away from her and glared as he realised what she was trying to do.

The brunette stared at her husband, he had never pulled away from her before and it didn't feel right for him to refuse her touch; she stared at him wondering what he was hiding from her.

“Fernando,” Analisa said as she watched her husband as he moved away from her completely, he shot her a dark look as he situated himself across the room from her; he didn't want her to think that what she had done was okay.

“Don’t try that again Ana, I’m doing what I can to protect you,” Fernando said making the brunette stare at him, he felt horrible for rejecting her touch but he knew that it was important if he wanted her to remain safe; things might have been returning to normal but Jonathon had started to threaten Fernando’s family.

“Protect me from what?” Analisa asked as she tried to remain calm, she couldn't bring herself to break down now when she was curious about what he had been hiding from her.

Fernando licked his lips as he watched her, he knew that even after four weeks that she was still grieving for their lose and he didn't want to put any more stress on her.

“Ana por favor… just drop it,” Fernando said as he turned away from her, the brunette stared at him for a moment before shaking her head and walking out of the office.

Fernando close his eyes as he heard his office door slam, he suddenly felt sick for pushing his wife away but he wanted to make sure that she was safe.

Jonathon had been furious when Fernando had been given his position on the council and had made it clear that one day soon he would take everything from the Spanish werewolf.

Analisa ignored Fernando as he entered their bedroom that night, she hadn't spoken to him since he had pushed her away in his office earlier that day and she couldn't bring herself to face him right now.

Closing her eyes, Analisa ignored her husband as she listened to him prepare for bed before he climbed in beside her; she knew that he was watching her and that he knew that she was upset with him.

“Ana, I know you are awake,” Fernando said softly as he watched his wife, he licked his lips as he stared at her back and waited for her to say something to him; he didn't care if it wasn’t something nice, he just wanted to hear her voice.

“Ana por favor,” Fernando murmured as he reached out to touch her, however she moved away from him making him stop and stare at her; he sighed as he made a soft noise in his throat hoping that he could make this right.

The werewolf feared that he was going to lose her, he hated the thought of her being with someone else and he didn't know what he would do if he lost her to someone else.

“You pushed me away,” Analisa said softly making Fernando stare at her, he watched her and felt his heart breaking as she refused to turn to face him; he hadn't thought that he had hurt her this much by not wanting her to touch him.

“I’m so sorry… I’m just trying to protect you Ana and I was upset about what had happened today, I never meant to hurt you,” Fernando said softly as he watched his wife; she sighed as she turned over to face him with tears in her eyes.

Fernando watched her carefully for a moment before he moved to pull her into his arms, he was relieved that she didn't try and stop him as he cuddled her close.

“I’m so sorry amor,” Fernando murmured as he allowed her to touch him, she cuddled into his arms and buried her head into his arms as she closed her eyes; she hoped that he would soon open up to her about what was bothering him.
