Later that day, we all crowded around our circular lunch table. I took my seat between Ryder and Caroline with Jordan directly opposite. None of us had an appetite but we all silently ate our food, cogs whirring in our brains as we thought of a solution to our problem.
"So how are we going to handle this?" I leant back in my chair, breaking the silence and looked between my friends. They all had blank expressions on their faces, obviously clueless.
I knew we had to be careful. We couldn't reveal our secret in the process of trying to keep it and we couldn't attack her in the middle of school. If she did know, we didn't know what she knows about werewolves, who she had told or how she found out. We were all clueless.
"We could kill her," Alexia suggested; one which I couldn't help but consider. After the way she has treated Jordan and the things she had done to me and my friends over the past few years, the thought of sinking my claws into Rebeccas throat was extremely satisfying.
"I am up for that," Caroline agreed quickly. As the easiest to infuriate in our group, Caroline had no tolerance for bullies. To the richest girl in town, we were outcasts and inferior. If only emitting dominance worked on humans, I would make her bow so deeply, her spine would snap.
"We will make that plan B," I chuckled. As much as I hated her, I wasn't in the mood for an unnecessary murder today. We all returned to silence again for a little while, pondering a plan A.
"What exactly did the message say again?" Blake asked, folding his arms across his broad chest and furrowing his eyebrows.
"It said, 'I know your big secret and I am not afraid to tell everyone'." Jordan re-read the message on her phone in a soft, shaky voice. She had been extremely quiet all day and I could see the tears brimming in her eyes but she kept them at bay, desperate to stay strong.
"Well, what other secrets about you could she know, Jord?" Ryder asked her, narrowing his eyes. She pondered this for a second before responding with a shrug.
Suddenly, I smelt Rebecca strut into the room and let out an aggressive snarl as my wolf was voting for our plan B. I took a couple of deep breaths to rein it back in and glared at her out the corner of my eye - focusing on making sure they didn't turn yellow.
"We still don't know what exactly it is she knows," Ryder input and I nodded.
"True, and if she does know what we are, we don't know how much she knows," I explained, biting the inside of my cheek. I watched as she met up with her friends and started gossiping. Was she telling them our secret?
I listened in to hear her talking about Zach and let out a breath of relief. Both her and her friends were blatantly staring and drooling over him. I rolled my eyes and listened as the brunette beside her started giggling and telling the rest of the group that she was certain he would ask her out soon. I couldn't stop the snort that burst from my nose.
"Why don't you just ask her Jordan?" Caroline suggested. She appeared the most calm in this situation - besides her hatred for Rebecca- and I couldn't help but wonder why.
"You don't seem particularly worried." I accused, narrowing my eyes suspiciously.
"It's Rebecca. It's unlikely that she knows because she is too thick and self centred to figure it out. Also we are careful so how would she possibly know. And, if somehow she does know, nobody would believe her and she is pretty easy to scare into shutting up," she explained.
I realised she had a point and nodded in agreement. "So, Jord?" She asked again and Jordans face fell, paling until it was translucent.
"I can't," Jordan murmured. I knew she was scared to face Rebecca, if she pushed her a little too far over the edge then Jordans wolf would shred her throat in seconds.
"What if I came with you?" I offered, knowing I could help her control her wolf.
Jordan thought for a minute before reluctantly nodding her head, her face remained as white as a sheet and her eyes were clouded with cold fear. However, I was happy to know she trusted me and we both scanned the room for her.
I caught sight of Zach, sitting alone on the other side of the room. He was on the phone to someone and he was staring directly at us. I couldn't understand who he was talking to considering he didn't know anyone within the pack and he told me he was a lone wolf before he joined.
Had he lied about that? I had always assumed I was a good judge of character and knew who to trust. I guess it's just my wolf instincts that tell me whether or not a person can be trusted but I hadn't doubted his story from the demonstrated pain in his eyes.
I decided I needed some answers and began to listen to his conversation. "Hang on a second Alex, your daughter is listening in." He smirked and I glared at him.
"Whats he doing?" Caroline asked, following my gaze to Zach.
"Talking to my dad," I muttered. "Hi dad." I tuned in to hear a 'hi honey' come from near Zach. I let out a growl as I watched Zach laugh and end the call.
He called him Alex? Not Alpha Reed like the rest of the pack did. Only the Beta called him that. How could he have been here for one day and he already called my dad by his name?
"Ella?" Ryder snapped and I tuned back into what was happening. "You ready?" He asked and I nodded. I followed Jordan over to Rebecca, who was now talking to her best friend Marissa.
"We need to talk to Rebecca," I told Marissa and she turned her nose up at me and huffed before walking away.
"Ew, what?" Rebecca asked, also turning her nose up at us. She began fiddling with the ends of her long blonde hair, clearly uninterested as she twiddled loose strands with her claw like pink nails.
"What is the secret you know?" Jordan asked timidly. She went for the 'straight to the point' method which I was grateful for as I wasn't the least bit interested in making light chit chat with Rebecca.
"Oh that," she scoffed and I clenched my fists at her smug attitude and proud tone. "I know you secretly fancy my boyfriend Jordan, but guess what, he is never going to fancy you." She let out a high pitched cackle and both Jordan and I let out a sigh of relief before laughing aswell. Rebecca cut off her irritating fake laugh immediately, the smirk playing on her lips snapped to a frown instantly.
"You think I fancy Josh?" Jordan asked, a small half smirk on her face, causing Rebeccas scowl to deepen. "Rebecca, dont you worry I couldn't care less about your boyfriend," she assured her with a shake of her head, raising her eyebrows at the accusation.
"I don't really think he cares about you either, considering he slept with your best friend last weekend," I added, remembering the conversation I overheard yesterday morning between Josh and Marissa. It was petty but I couldn't help myself.
Sometimes I really loved wolf hearing.
Her face suddenly dropped and she no longer beamed with pride at her messages. She snapped her head between the two of us, glaring and then weakly scoffed. "You two are pathetic."
"Is that a wrinkle line?" I asked pointing to her forehead, where her frown had caused creases to form. "You should stop frowning like that sweetie, you are getting wrinkles." I finished with a smirk before Jordan and I turned and went back to our table where all four of them were grinning after listening in to our conversation.
