"Hey, can I sit?" Mason asked from the other side of the table, causing all our heads to snap in his direction.
"You want to sit with us?" I narrowed my eyes at him. Nobody ever sat with us, especially someone as popular as Mason. Not much could sneak up on a werewolf, but this, this was quite a shock.
"Yeah, as long as you guys promise to eat your food and not me," he joked, placing his plate down and sitting in between Caroline and Jordan. Gently, he placed a quick kiss on Carolines cheek, bringing a pale blush to them.
I grumbled a shut up and went back to eating my meal. "She is in a mood, whats up with her?" He asked pointing his finger and wagging it at me.
"She is worried about Blake," Zach replied, shooting me a look as I snarled in response to Mason.
"He never misses school, ever," I told him, every single day something seemed to happen and I had to deal with it. Wolfsbane, fights, Mason.
"Nice to know you care El but I was just at the dentist." I heard Blakes voice mock from behind me and I swivelled in my seat to shoot him a glare.
"Well maybe Blake, you should've told someone that so we weren't sat around worrying about you," I growled in irritation and slight embarrassment, I was thinking the worst and he was just getting his teeth checked.
"Sorry El." He laughed and sat down beside me. "Mason?" He squinted, mockingly. "Is that you? On our table?"
"Yeah its me. I'm on werewolf patrol, making sure Ella doesn't go around terrorising the village." He laughed and I kicked him under the table. Hard. "Owwww!"
"I don't like you." I scowled and he simply laughed. I ignored his laughs and focused on Jordan, who hadn't touched her food and looked to be on the verge of tears. "Jord? What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she squeaked weakly and I shook my head.
"Jordan, you aren't eating," Zach stated, narrowing his eyes at her.
"Jordan?" I asked.
"I just... ok so this morning, I found a um... a bowl wolfsbane in my room and I was going to tell you, before you yell, but you were worried about Blake and I didn't want to add to your stress because you have been really stressed lately which I dont blame you with everything-," she rambled and I cut her off.
"Jord?" I called and she stopped.
"Mhm?"
"What's wrong?" I asked as sweetly as I could.
"I am scared that if I eat wolfsbane like Lexi did, I will go out of control," she whispered, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Jordan, I won't let that happen ok?" I told her, wrapping my arms tightly around her and pulling her to me. My fingers raked through her long blonde locks while her head was buried in my shirt.
"What if I hurt you worse than Lexi did," she sniffled. "I don't want to hurt you." Her voice was muffled against my tear stained shirt.
"You wont, ok? You are getting better at controlling it and I will help you. You will be fine," I assured her, although the more I thought about it, the more the sick feeling that had formed spread through my stomach, churning my food around. "You have to eat though ok?" I told her and she hesitated.
"Jord, nobody would have put wolfsbane in the cafeteria food," Ryder assured her, "and we are all eating it."
She finally smiled slightly and slowly started eating. I couldn't help but shoot a look at Ryder, who was staring back at me, eyebrows raised. We both new that if Jordan took wolfsbane, her wolf would kill.
"So," Caroline spoke up after some uncomfortable silence. "Your dad is away for the weekend?" She asked me and I nodded. "How come?"
"I have no idea, business," I told her, shrugging. My father often spent time away, meeting with other Alphas and disposing of any threats or enemies.
"So you have the place to yourself?" Lexi asked, pushing her empty plate away from her and leaning her elbows on the table.
"Well-," I nodded my head towards Zach and frowned at his smirk, "-he left the babysitter."
"Party at Ellas!" Ryder joked with a grin.
"Actually, thats not a bad idea." I laughed.
"What? Really!" Ryder slapped his hands together and a light appeared in his hazel eyes.
"Well, not a party but you guys could stay over tonight and we can order pizza and drink my dads expensive whiskey," I suggested and Zach scowled at the drinking thing. "That way, if you did take wolfsbane we would all be there and my dad left me with enough nightshade berries to cure the whole pack so we would be fine," I told Jordan and she smiled meekly.
"Are you sure?" She barely whispered.
"Yes, we would all be there and you would be safe," I promised her.
"I'm in!" Ryder squealed excitedly.
"Me too!" Lexi clapped - anything remotely sociable or similar to a party was heaven for Lex.
"I will even invite you Mason, but you will have to lay low. If the pack smell you then we will have a hell of a lot of explaining to do," I told him, my eyes uncontrollably rolling at the consequences of simply knowing a human.
"Are you sure its a good idea?" He asked hesitantly. "I don't want to get you guys in trouble."
"Oh, it would get us killed but whats life without a little risk." Ryder laughed and Masons eyes widened infinitely.
"If you want to come, then come," I told him. "Are you in Car?"
"Definitely!" She replied with a simple nod.
"Blake?" I asked and he nodded. "Babysitter?"
He growled, "Sure sweetheart." He smirked and then it was my turn to growl.
