"So he really left you for the week?" Alexia gasped incredulously. Her eyes blazed with the confusion and worry that I felt, however, I did my best to conceal it.

"Yeah, he has gone to speak to an Alpha from another pack," I replied airily. There was a knot in my stomach at the thought of him being away from me but I continued to pretend it didn't exist and ate my food.

"About what?" Jordan asked, her voice was honeyed and melodic, instantly calming me down. There was always something about Jordan's sweet, innocent personality that made me feel calm and rational.

"He wants to find out if they can provide back up when the pack comes for her," Zach replied before I had the chance, leaving me to simply nod in agreement.

"So our packs combined would be loads bigger than theirs, we are sure to win easily," Ryder exclaimed, a grin plastered across his face. I loved how laid back and optimistic he was. No matter how bad the situation, Ryder always found the good and the rest of us had to bring him back to reality.

"It's not as simple as win or lose Ry." I sighed, instantly loosing my appetite (even if it was meat) and throwing my fork down.

"Ella, stop being so pessimistic and sour," he grunted resentfully. I leaned back in my chair and raised my eyebrows at his fake pouty face. I let out a small laugh and rolled my eyes at his childish behaviour.

I couldn't shake the feeling in my stomach, I could feel my nerves eating away at me and I couldn't understand why. I had never felt this way before but it was like I knew something bad was coming soon but I didn't know what or when.

"Eat," I heard Zach order from across the table, snapping me out of my thoughts. I shot him a glare and rolled my eyes at his demand.

"Never did I think I would see the day that Ella turned down food," Ryder mocked. "Maybe the pack already took her and this is a clone made so we wouldn't notice," he continued in a snide manner. A smirk played on his lips as he watched me glower at him.

"Shut up," I grumbled before Zach spoke up again.

"Ella." His eyebrows were lifted expectantly and he folded his arms across his broad chest. He held the look of authority while his face contorted into the daring look I had gotten so used to.

"Trouble in paradise." I heard Caroline cough next to me and I jammed my elbow into her waist causing her to yelp at the slight pain and surprise.

"El, you do have to eat something," Jordan squeaked and I could hear the concern lacing her voice.

"I'm not hungry," I tried to explain but pretty much all of them shook their heads in disbelief. I stared down at the plate in front of me and just the thought of eating it made my stomach turn and my throat run dry.

"Ella, I'm not going to ask again," Zach growled and I couldn't help but snap back. Who does he think he is telling me what to do?

"Good, because I don't want to hear it again," I hissed, shoving my plate across the table and pushing my chair back. "Can you all just leave me alone?" I asked, exhausted from fighting everyone all the time. I rose from my seat, ignoring their calls, and darted out of the lunch hall. Before I knew it I was outside and slipping under a hole in the fence before racing through the woods.

I didn't know where I was running to but I didn't stop, my legs took over and I flew through the trees and over the brambles and twigs. The cool air slammed into me and my hair flew around me. Each time my shoes slapped against the ground I felt another surge of energy boil up. With each step, the fear, the worry, the anger, the pain, it all faded until all I felt was free.
