The next few days passed with minimal drama. I was being watched by my father and Zach like a hawk and my friends were all on their Alphas bad side for the time being which lead to some very uneventful days. That was until someone who was allied with my father and spying on the other pack informed him that his time was up. The pack was coming soon.

This meant my dad had increased security in the pack. Now, several wolves patrolled each part of the border. There was no way in or out of the village without sneaking past at least 10 wolves. Each of them were informed that I was not to leave unless I was with my father or Zach, not to mention that Zach was instructed to walk me to school and then return me straight home.

"You're not paying attention," Zach taunted beside me. We sat, listening to our teacher drone on about algebra and geometry.

"What?" I mumbled, snapping out of my slumber.

"You, Ella Reed, were daydreaming." He raised his eyebrows, a smirk playing on his lips.

"It's hard to care about algebra when you are waiting for a kidnapping and all your friends might die," I scoffed, nestling my head down onto the table, cushioned by my folded arms.

"You won't be kidnapped and nobody on our side will die. I can't promise the same for this other pack," he grumbled cockily.

I raised my head and quirked an eyebrow at him, only causing his smirk to grow. "Shut up and let me sulk," I grumbled, burying my head in my arms once again.

I jolted back to reality at the sound of the clanging bell and with a huff, scrambled out of my seat with my hand in Zach's much larger one. We made our way to the lunch hall and took our seats with him on the opposite side of the table to me.

"Is anyone else dreading the dark moon?" Jordan asked with a sigh.

I let out a groan and nodded my head, dread settling in my stomach at the thought of it. "I am," I muttered along with a few of the others?

"Whats so bad about it?" Mason asked, watching our reactions.

"No moon means no wolf. We will be human for an entire day," I explained.

"Really?" He asked and we all nodded bluntly.

We continued chatting, completely oblivious to the fact that Rebecca and Marissa had appeared near our table and were lingering off to the side. My jaw fell open when I finally noticed them as Rebecca pulled a chair up to the table and took a seat beside Zach. Everyone fell silent as we watched them quizically, Rebecca leaning her elbow on the table and flicking her hair back until it practically hit Caroline in the face and Marissa standing awkwardly behind her, watching her best friend in awe.

"Hey Zach," Rebecca cooed in her irritating, high-pitched, squeaky voice. The sound rang out, torturing my ears while she flipped her hair across her shoulder yet again, sending the sickly scent of apple towards my nose.

"Hey," Zach grunted and I internally grinned at his lack of enthusiasm to her presence.

"So, I'm throwing a party tomorrow and only the very best are invited, do you want to come?" She offered flirtatiously.

"No, thanks," he grumbled before turning his attention back to his food.

"Oh, come on, it's the best party of the year." She placed her hand on his shoulder, her long, hot pink talons stroking along his shirt as he spun back to face her. My stomach clenched with anger at the sight of her hand on him. I shouldn't have felt jealous but I did, I hated her touching him.

"Yeah, there will be live music and dancing and loads of drink." Marissa grinned. I couldn't help but laugh at the fact she was more of a sidekick than a friend to Rebecca. She was like a little minion that followed her around and did exactly as she asked.
