Perhaps I was too rash.
Asking my crush out on a date out of nowhere. What was I thinking?
Jeon Jungkook. We spoke a little in class but I was too shy to ever ask to spend time with him. He always seemed so nice to everyone and he did so well academically in lessons. He's always at the top of the class with the best test results and I come in a close second, I've never been able to beat him but I'm okay with that.
At first, it irked me that I couldn't beat him. I didn't like that he was popular and the smartest kid in the class. He had the best of both worlds with school as well as friends. I thought that he didn't deserve it, no one should be able to get everything but over time I realised he wasn't the evil guy I'd made him out to be.
"Hey, Nora." I snap out of my thoughts when Jungkook approaches me. I showed up early to the date and have been waiting by a popular cafe. "Ready for lunch?" He asks with a smile that reaches his eyes. That face is so freaking perfect. I shyly nod. Out of nowhere he takes my hand in his and starts to walk. I didn't even have the chance to make sure my hand wasn't sweaty...
We walk together down the street and Jungkook points to different restaurants deciding which one we should eat at. I can feel people watching us, although the eyes belong to no one I know I feel very self-conscious.
"You okay?" Jungkook asks looking to me.
"Um, well I can't help but feel like people are looking at us..." I say knowing it's not just my imagination.
"Yeah, people can be pretty nosy." He chuckles, brushing it off. I suppose he's used to girls looking at him, he's a very pretty boy. "Ooo, I forgot this place was here. Let's eat here." He says and pulls me into a little restaurant.
Soon as we enter I'm shocked by the heat. I look around and find it's only small and has two people working, one person cooking and one person cleaning up after their elder.
"The food here is great, I came here with a friend a while ago," Jungkook says picking a random seat. I sit across from him and go to pick up a menu but Jungkook's hand takes mine. "Let me order for you so it's a surprise." He smiles. I nod with blushing cheeks as he goes up to the counter. I watch him as he talks to the chef. I fiddle with my hands in my lap.
Why would he agree to go on a date with me? He barely knew I existed other than the times he congratulated me on my test scores. Girls ask him out all the time but I see him turn them down a lot, why was this any different? I'm not even sure how I worked up the courage to ask him out, it was like my body became taken over by my heart while my head was screaming no.
                              *Flashback*
I watch Jungkook from my desk as he chats with his friends. I just need a little bit of courage so I can talk to him. I bite the end of my pencil as his friends scatter from his desk.
                              Now's my chance.
"Um, Jungkook..." I say walking up behind him. He turns and looks down at me.
"Yes, Nora?" Well, he remembered my name that's good.
"Would you like to have lunch out with me this weekend?" I ask looking at my feet, not at all expecting a yes.
"The two of us?" He asks making me peer up at him.
"Yes, we can go where ever you like," I add. He grins and nods.
"Sure but as long as you pay." He winks.
I look at him surprised. "So we can meet at like 12?" I ask.
"Yeah, that works. Hey, give me your phone so I can give you my number that way we can work out where to meet." Without thinking my hand reaches into my pocket and I hand over my phone allowing him to add himself to my contacts. "I was joking about you paying by the way." He laughs and hands me back my phone. "I'll be the gentleman and pay for our meal but you're in charge of dessert." He grins sweetly. I simply nod as my eye sparkle at him. "I'll be waiting for your text!" He says as he walks away.
