"Yes, you're very well spoken and calm. The job would be perfect for you." Izzy says breaking a biscuit in half and placing one half in front of me.
"What would you know about working as a servant?" I ask.
"I worked as one for only a short time but soon quit when I realised I wasn't cut out for the job." She says and dips her biscuit in her mug. "Perhaps it would have been different if I had a different Boss but you could handle it there," She says confidently. "You'd work for Mast- uh- Taehyung." She says taking a bite. "He does not like chitchat or bad behaviour. People easily get on his nerves so a calm girl like you would fit the job." I ponder this for a moment. "When people stutter then he makes them start the sentence over like a strict teacher, you'd exceed his expectations of a servant. Sure he's harsh but the job has amazing pay and I know you enjoy cleaning because you're a weirdo." She chuckles and finishes her drink. I look to the half biscuit in front of me and push it back to her.
"I don't know why you persist in trying to make me eat sweets," I say with a roll of my eyes. She smiles and eats it instead.
"You know fully-well you don't eat them because of the crumbs. See! You'd do great as a servant, you're a neat freak. You'd make the place look pristine." Izzy exclaims. Well, actually there's more to that than just wanting to be overly neat.
"I suppose it does make sense and I do have experience in being a maid," I say. I have more than enough experience for the job but it's not easy to put on a resume. She nods along with me.
"Not that I expect you to even talk to anyone but I suggest you don't make friends with the other staff." She warns. I raise my eyebrow curiously. "Like me, they quit quite often. They try to stick it out for the pay but Taehyung's harsh behaviour pushes them away. I'm sure you'll be fine though, you do everything perfectly." I feel like that last comment came with a pinch. "The mansion is quite large but you'll be given certain chores that you repeat every day. The accommodation isn't amazing but you can spend your evenings as you wish so it's only meant for sleeping in and holding your stuff."
"Accommodation? I'd live there?" I ask a little surprised.
"It's a full-time job and you're always on-call. Not sleeping there simply wouldn't make sense." She informs me. "Also while I was there, there were quite a few cute servants. You're not supposed to talk to each other but I found my way around the system." She winks.
"Workplace relationships are kind of taboo, did you date any of them?" I ask curiously.
She sighs, "No it seems they didn't want to associate with the girl that always got scolded." She sounds disappointed.
"Well then, I guess I'll get myself an interview." I put down my cup.
*Time skip*
The interview was a little extensive. Background checks, a personality quiz? I can appreciate that they only want the best but I think it's clear Izzy lied on her application. I haven't actually met my employer, only the Head Housekeeper but it seems he's worked here for only a month himself. Izzy was right about people quitting a lot.
"So you know your chores for the day?" Ryland asks me again. He looks tired and quite drained but he's holding himself very well.
"I do. I suppose I've been given the task of cleaning our employer's bedroom and office because no one else wants to." I say a little bored.
"My, you're quite blunt but in all honesty yes. Each new person is given the task then it's past down to the next newcomer. So unless you become defensive of your position then I'm sure you won't have to do it for long." He replies.
"Oh okay. Also, how should I address him? I don't actually know his last name." I say tightening my ponytail.
"Well, actually we're told to call him Master." Master? He sounds quite pretentious.
"I do hope that isn't some funny joke that will embarrass me later," I warn him with serious eyes.
"Not at all. So how about you follow me to his office so you can introduce yourself. I would give you some tips but I'm often proved wrong, you never really know what will temper him." He says and leads the way.
When we reach the two large wooden doors, Ryland knocks twice and opens it once he hears a deep voice say 'Enter'. The doors open and we're greeted with a dimly lit room. All the furniture is hardwood and quite old looking. Taehyung stays sat at his desk watching us with an uninterested gaze.

"Yes?" He asks. I step forward and bow.
"I'm Rain Aalin," I introduce myself. "I'm the new help, thank you for welcoming me into your home," I say and stay bowed waiting for him to allow me to stand. I'm used to quite formal introductions
"You may stand Aalin," He says using my last name. I straighten up and hold eye contact. "I presume you'll be in charge of cleaning my office and serving my meals." Well, I hadn't been told about the meals but you're always just supposed to say yes to your employer.
"That's true, I hope that's okay," I ask and he simply nods.
"Well if that's all then you may leave." He says gesturing us away then looking back to the book on his desk. I do another bow before leaving the room and closing the door.
When back in the hallway with Ryland I see he's now accompanied by another boy in the same suit. "Wow he didn't correct you once, you were perfect." The other boy says impressed. I simply nod.
"I'll be off to my duties then," I say and walk away when suddenly Ryland grabs my arm nervously.
"I wouldn't get too comfortable though, you may be a woman but he'll have no problem putting you in your place." He says not looking at me.
"Excuse me?" I ask. He simply pulls up his sleeves to show bruises. "Hm..." I say a tad surprised. "So he hits you," I say and he nods. He looks to the door and remembers we're stood outside of Master's office.
"We should talk elsewhere." He says but I shake my head.
"Not necessary, I'll learn on the job and if I slip up and get punished then it's my fault. He's our boss, it's his job to keep us in place." I say simply.
They look at me shocked. "Jeeze, you're tough. Kind of sound like a robot though." He says making me frown. I decide to simply walk away and get on with my work.
Perhaps I'm conditioned to feel that way, it's understandable for them not to share my same thoughts.
