Sometimes I'm surprised by how dumb people are.

Most of the time it's when I'm scrolling on the internet and I read something so dumb that I worry for the future of humanity but sometimes I meet them in real life and have to talk to them like I don't want to kill them or myself.

"Right, okay." I say disinterested to the customer who should be walking away now. She has been talking to me for the past fifteen minutes about the deals at the store. I'm working at the cash point and there is no way for me to just walk away from this conversation. "Yes, 50% off would totally be better than the 25% off..." I say wanting to disappear. She continues until a guy steps behind her, awaiting his turn. "Well it was just great talking to you but a boy wants to buy his books." I fake smile at the woman who is holding onto her copy of 50 Shades Of Grey. She glances behind her then walks away. I let out an exhausted sigh.

"She can speak real fast huh?" Says my saviour. I look up to him and see a very handsome boy who is probably around my age.

"You have no idea. She wouldn't shut up." I say and take the books he had placed on the counter. I scan them. "That is £15." I smile. He hands me over the exact money and I put it in the till. When I go to place the last book in the bag, I look at the cover. "Acid? I love this book. Great choice." I say and put it in the bag.

"I've read it before but wanted a copy of it. I prefer having the book rather than reading it online." I nod in agreement.

"Yeah it's much better, especially with hard back books." I say. He chuckles and agrees. "Hey, so what's your name?" I ask.

"Namjoon." He smiles.

"Well it''s nice to meet you Namjoon, I'm Cecily." He reaches over the counter and we shake hands formally.

"You too." He smiles. Wow he's has such a nice smile. I kinda want to poke his dimples. He takes the bag and walks to the door to leave but not without glancing back at me.

*Next Day*

I sit at the front desk reading a book when someone places a book on the counter. I look up but have to lower my gaze when I see a little girl has placed 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' book in front of me.

"Ah, nice choice. I love that book." I say and scan it. "That will be £3.50 please." I say smiling down at her. Her nose only reaches the desk but her pig tails are very high. She reaches up and places a hand full of pennies. Not nearly the right amount. I look through the coins and count up a total of 59p. "Well, you're a little short..." I put my hand in my pocket and find a few pound coins. "But I can give you a deal." I pay for her book and put the money into the register. I bag the book and pass it down to her.

"Thank youuu." She says and walks out of the store. I watch her as she goes.

"That was very nice of you." I turn towards the voice talking to me. It's Namjoon.

"Yeah, I'm quite the saint. Although, that was almost an hour of my wages. My pay is crap. Worth it though." I say as I think of the girls eyes lighting up when I'd said I'd let her off. I look to Namjoon, seeing him smiling. He places a book on the desk. It's not a fiction like yesterday but a book about philosophy. "That's some deep stuff." I say and scan the book. He shrugs. "£10.99" I say and he hands me a ten and a five pound note. I give him the change and receipt then hand him the book in the bag.

"You were here yesterday too. Don't tell me you finished those books already?" I joke. He blushes slightly.

"I stopped reading for a long time and I'm picking it up again. I starting to make a small collection of books to read." He says. The question seem to have put him off a little for some reason.
