Mary-Ellen, who was also a human, looked at Slappy. She grinned and ran a hand through her hair.
"Hi," she greeted. "It is so nice to see you again." She leaned forward.
Slappy stepped back and forced Shelly to do the same. He let out a growl. "I am certainly not happy to see you."
"I missed you."
"You are obsessed with me!"
"Not anymore. I have changed."
Shelly became confused and tapped her boyfriend's shoulder. "Slappy?" she spoke up. "Who is this?"
Mary-Ellen looked to be offended by Shelly's question. "Excuse me. I am no 'this.' I am a person."
Slappy sighed. "She can see that you are a person." He turned to his girlfriend. "This is Mary-Ellen. She is crazy." He turned back to Mary-Ellen. "This is Shelly. I am with her now."
"Really? With her?" Mary-Ellen tried holding in her laughs. She thought that it was preposterous that her handsome man was with a human and not her. "Well, this is awkward."
He could not agree more. "Yes. It is awkward. So could you please leave us alone?"
"I am sorry. I cannot."
"Why not?! 'Cause you are still obsessed with me?"
Her face saddened, and she put a hand over her stomach. "I...I am pregnant...with your baby."
