Snappy fiddled with his fingers. His teeth began chattering, but he forced them to stop as soon as they started before anybody would notice.
And realize just how nervous that he was and become suspicious of him.
He did not know what to say. He had to think fast.
"Do not keep us waiting, brother of mine," Slappy spoke, getting impatient. "What do you want to tell my fiancée? And there had better not be any flirting involved."
Snappy really wanted to escape from them and catch his breath. It was as if there were no oxygen or clean air in that room that he could breathe in. His stomach heaved up and down, and he placed a hand over his chest where his heart was. His heart was beating rapidly because he was a nervous wreck. He tried to calm down, but it was hard to do so when there were three other people - including the girl whom he had a crush on and his twin brother - were in the same room with him.
Finally getting an idea how to leave and what to say, he got up from his seat and patted the top of Shelly's head. He overheard his brother growling at because he was touching his fiancée, but he ignored him.
"I wanted to say..." he started. "...that I hope that you will be okay. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers."
With that, he ran past Slappy and out of the room.
Slappy raised an eyebrow. "The heck is his problem?"
Shelly shrugged, and her cellphone rang. She took it out, answered it, and held it up to her ear. "Hello? Mary-Ellen?"
Slappy immediately frowned at the mention of Mary-Ellen's name. He did not trust her in the slightest.
She hung up and looked up at him. "Mary-Ellen has invited me for lunch," she said.
