Still gripping Snappy's arm, Slappy went up to Shelly and hugged her. Stine got ahold of the straps on Shelly's straight jacket, getting ready to get her out of that thing. The rest of Shelly's family and friends kept their eyes on the judge and crossed their fingers. They wanted Shelly to be found innocent.
Here comes the verdict.
The judge slammed the gavel on her desk. "...found not guilty!"
The group leaped out of their seats and cheered. The prosecutor slowly shook his head as he stood up and walked out of the room. Stine released Shelly from the straight jacket, and he and Slappy hugged her.
"You are free now," the writer told her.
"All charges will be dropped," the judge continued. "However, Mary-Ellen will be held accountable for her crimes. She is charged with fraud and assault."
"Please!" Mary-Ellen got on her feet and clenched her hands into tight fists. "You cannot charge me if you cannot catch me!"
With that, she teleported.
