Realizing that Mary-Ellen was going to have his baby, Slappy knew that they had to make custody arrangements. He did not want to be with her. He did not even know how she got pregnant! But if the baby was his - which it was - he would do everything that he could to have and spend time with the baby. He just wished that Mary-Ellen was not the mother.
They met at a restaurant that was not far from home. Shelly, Snappy, and Wally were also there. Slappy wanted Shelly to be there, and Wally and Snappy were only there because of Shelly's presence.
Slappy and Shelly sat on one side of the booth, and Mary-Ellen sat on the other side. Wally and Snappy stood by the booth and stared at Shelly.
"Do you mind?" Slappy asked his brothers angrily.
"Nope," Snappy answered.
"Let your brothers be," Mary-Ellen scolded. She rubbed her stomach. "They can be here and be humans. They are part of the family." She looked at Shelly. "Unlike some people."
"Do you mean my girlfriend?" Slappy pulled Shelly close to him. "I told you. She will be in our baby's life."
Mary-Ellen snarled. "Fine. Then I will leave town. With your baby."
