Slappy walked out of the restroom and dusted off his jacket.
"I hate going to the bathroom at this hospital," he said to himself. "I should not have waited until the last minute."
He looked up and noticed that Mary-Ellen was by the elevators. She had a hand in her purse. He guessed that she was going through the purse and trying to find something.
He walked up to her with an eyebrow raised. "Mary-Ellen?"
Mary-Ellen heard him clearly and turned in his direction. She blinked a couple of times. "Oh. Slappy." She quickly took her hand out of her purse. "I did not expect you to be out of the bathroom so soon." She zipped her purse.
"And I expected you to have left way before now." He crossed his arms. "So? Why are you still here? Do you plan on seeing Shelly after she is done with therapy? To tell her in her face that she might be going insane?"
She gasped. "Slappy! My gosh. I have been nice to you and your family for the past few months. Even to Shelly. I would never call her insane..." She paused for a moment, and then continued. "...because I am a changed girl."
An elevator finally opened. Mary-Ellen noticed and sighed.
"I will go now," she commented as she stepped into the elevator. A smile spread across her face. "Really, Slappy. I have changed. And I only wish the best for your love. She is a very nice girl."
Then the elevators closed. Slappy rubbed the back of his neck.
"I sure hope that Shelly is not insane," he said.
