Chapter 42: It Shows

Christmas wasn't as jolly as I would like it to be. After everyone came back from Christmas shopping Jace and Anne left while Shawn stayed in Jacob's room for the night. I tried texting Mia but she wouldn't answer and I didn't want to bother Emily so I went to Mariana's room.

" Hey Mar ?...." I said knocking on her door.

" Come in!" She yelled.

Mariana was on her bed talking to her boyfriend from New York on Skype.

" Oh hey Reese !" I said.

Reese had tan skin that almost matched the colour of caramel and light brown eyes. He originally had fully brown hair but I noticed that he bleached the ends.

" Whoa new hair !" I said snuggling up to Mar.

" Yeah .... kinda wanted to try something new , plus my girlfriend decided to leave me alone on Christmas so why not get a little wild."He said while playfully pouting.

" What's up hun?" Mar asked while rubbing her fingers through my straightened hair.

" Jace....."

" Ouuu whose Jace ? He sounds fancy." Reese said looking fully intrigued in our conversation.

" Don't worry he's in New York , and he has no friends you're fine." She said reassuring me that I can trust him.

" He's pretty into Anne ... when we talked tonight he made it clear how done he was with us and how maybe it's Anne's turn....Mar I completely messed up."

" Why didn't you tell him how you felt right then and there then ?" Reese asked while eating Nutella with a spoon.

" Because he still thinks I'm with my ex boyfriend.... whose with Jacob ....." I said playing with the rings on my fingers.

" It's about time Jacob found some dick!" He said licking his spoon.

" BABE !"

" What ? It's true a man that beautiful and with that awesome head of hair shouldn't have been single for as long he was." He said while shrugging.

" So you think Jace is completely over you ?" Mariana asked.

" 100% sure..." I said trying to hold back the tear that was about to fall.

"Nah." Reese said interrupting the stillness in the air.

" What you mean nAh ?" Mar asked raising an eyebrow at her boyfriend.

" I mean he's not over Elle. All boys try to act like they don't have feelings for the girl they love."

" But Jace doesn't love me .." I said going closer to the laptop screen.

" Well how do you know ? Tell me about you guys relationship then."

After going in excruciating detail about the time Jace and I met , to the first time I realized I caught feelings for him , our first kiss and kind of break up , to not talking to each other and us finally talking to each other again , Reese just sat there and shook his head until he finally spoke.

" Yup,you definitely having his babies."

" alright goodbye Reese see you New Years !"

" no wait-" but he didn't get to finish because I hung up the call.

Mariana shook her head and laughed at what just happened.

" it's the first time in a long time I'm alone on Christmas....."

Now that I think about it , I've always been in a relationship on Christmas. It was mostly with Mia but obviously that wasn't the case anymore.

" Hey look at it this way , since my boyfriend is so far away and and yours but not really yours is across the street.... let's keep each other company!"She said hugging me tighter.

" Yeah sure I'll like that ..."

Mariana got up and turned off the lights in the room. When she got over on the bed she laid down and like old times I snuggled by her side.

" Elle you're gonna get through this .. Love isn't always easy..."

" Who says I'm in love ?" I asked turning to her.

" that's the thing Elle. You don't even have to say it. It shows. Go to bed hun don't think about it right now."

Probably I was in love with Jace ... But I was too tired to deal with those feelings. I kissed mar's cheek and I hugged her tighter.

" Thanks for being a great sister..." I said sleepily.

" Thanks for being a great person" mar said hugging me tighter.
