After the band practise had finished, I walked up to the boys and congratulated them on how good they actually were.
"You're just saying that because you have to say it." Michael replied, punching me playfully on the shoulder.
"No," I replied punching him back. "I'm being honest. If you guys were shit I would have told you straight away but you guys are really good."
Michael wrapped an arm around my shoulder pulling me into his side. "Thanks Hayden, it means a lot."
I looked up at him, smiling. It was strange, although I didn't know Luke, Calum and Michael well, I felt so comfortable around them which was strange for me. I only ever had Matty as a real friend.
It was difficult being a child and not knowing what it was like to have true friends. Growing up, I had plenty of friends, girls and boys. We had regular play dates where we would go to each other's houses and play for hours on end. I always thought that because we were all so close that we would be best friends forever. Sadly, things didn't work out that way.
When I turned eight, all the friends that I had growing up suddenly turned their backs on me for no reason, leaving me with no one. When I asked them why they didn't want to be my friend anymore, they told me that I was uncool, that I didn't fit up to their standards anymore, which was funny since we were still only children, we weren't meant to have standards.
I dug my hand into my pocket, picking my phone out of my jean pocket checking the time whilst untangling myself from Michaels embrace.
Once the screen was unlocked, I noticed that it was after nine which was pretty late considering that I had to walk back home. "Guys," I said trying to get their attention since Ashton, Calum and Michael were all captured in a conversation and Amelia and Luke were sitting on the leather couch, Amelia giggling too loudly and too fake again and again over what Luke was telling her. Her fake giggles were beginning to give me a headache.
Ashton turned his attention towards me, following by the rest of the group, having all these eyes on me made me feel anxious but I quickly pushed it away telling myself that I was just being stupid. "I have to go, but thanks for inviting me over, you guys were really, really great." I said, smiling at all of them making sure not to make eye contact with the leech.
"Do you really have to leave?" Calum asked, making a pouting face which made me smile. I knew that I was going to get on with Calum, he seemed like such an easy going guy to get along with.
"Yeah, it's getting late, plus I'm getting a bit tired." I replied, faking a yawn.
"Who gets tired at nine o clock?" I heard the leech mutter but I shook it off pretending not to hear it, the last thing I wanted to happen was to start a pointless fight.
"I'll walk you out." Luke said, standing up from the leather couch which made the leech glare at me.
She placed her hand on Luke's arm tugging him back slightly.
"Luke, she knows her way out, she's not stupid." She said, looking straight at me, still glaring.
What the hell was with the glares?
Luke shook Amelia's hand off his arm, before leaving her and walking towards me. "I invited her so it's only right for me to walk her out. Jesus Amelia what has gotten into you?" He questioned, turning around and looking at her.
"You've been really snappy for most of the night, are you okay?" Ashton asked, walking over and taking Luke's seat.
It was true, Amelia had been really harsh to the boys all night. She was very critical and contradicting, she thought that she knew everything but the truth was the girl knew nothing. Amelia was harsh on Ash and Luke the most which pissed me off since Luke was her best friend and Ashton was her boyfriend. She didn't have to be so harsh.
