AN: This chapter is for my readers who went back to the start, the Prologue, and started all over again.

But if you really want to go back to the start, I suggest going back to NES: Something In Between.

"I'm really sorry for how Edward acted." Maymay apologizes for the nth time as she tends to Tanner's face. They are now in the backyard, sitting on the bench under the tree. Edward stayed inside with her grandparents and EJ.

"Why was he so angry anyway?" he asks. "And why is he in your grandparents' house?"

Maymay sighs, "He found out about EJ." she answers, "And here, wipe your own blood right there on the corner of your lips." she adds afterwards because she finds it a bit awkward tending after Tanner when all she really wants is to check on Edward.

Tanner chuckles, "I bet you're wishing you're by Edward's side instead."

Maymay rolls her eyes, "No offense, but I really do."

Tanner looks at her, "I'm not offended, May. I always knew you loved him, and I also know that despite the hardship he put you through, you still love him." he grabs Maymay's hand and slightly squeezes it.

Maymay looks to the back window from their kitchen where she can feel someone looking at them, and right as she turns her head, she saw him. She sees a pair of eyes glaring at them while carrying their daughter in his arms. She can tell that Edward is trying to calm himself by holding onto EJ.

Tanner squeezes her hand again, bringing her attention back to him. "Now, I know, I really don't have a chance anymore."

Maymay just smiles at him, "I was always clear with you, Tanner. I never gave you any false hopes, but, I just want you to know that I am really grateful for everything you have done for me and EJ." she says before checking on Edward again. She breathes a sigh of relief as she sees that Edward and EJ are no longer there.

"I know. That is one thing I always admire about you--so pure and honest."he says while putting his fingers on Maymay's chin and slowly turning her head toward him.

Maymay chuckles, "Pure huh? I have a daughter, remember?"

"So? EJ is just as pure as you." he smiles. "I thought that you, EJ, and I could be a family one day, you know?"

Maymay is caught off guard.

"Sorry." she blurts silently. "I just don't think my heart could ever love another man, Tanner. And right now, I can see the bleeding has stopped.. But, where will this bring me? I really have no idea..." she sighs. "..and to be honest, right now..all I really want is to get back to Edward and EJ." she continues as she starts to fidget.

"Fine.. fine. You can go." he responds. "But damn, tell Edward that his punches are a lot harder and stronger now." he chuckles.

"No worries, I'll let him know." she smiles as she gets up, "And oh, Tanner.. you'll find the right woman for you too. Sorry, it's just not me." She walks straight to their back door, leaving Tanner by himself.

As she walks in the kitchen, she sees her lolo standing by the fridge and is holding a glass of water. She walks straight to him, "Sorry, lo." She wraps her arms around his frail body, "And thank you for stopping Edward."

Her grandfather pats her hair, "It's okay, apo. You should tell Edward to calm down, and not to get physical with people."

She looks up and smiles at her lolo, "I will, lolo. It's just that Edward and Tanner go way back, but I'll talk to him." she smiles as she happily tiptoes and kisses her lolo's cheek. "If he talks to me."
