23. NEW HOME

After showering, Maymay decided to put on her pajama bottoms and a sweater as her top--sans bra. She covers herself all the way from her neck down to her feet. While brushing her hair, she decided to put the volume of the baby monitor that she placed on Edward's night stand.

She can clearly see that EJ is already asleep, but Edward's voice is still coming out from the monitor. "Such a good father." she mumbles. She keeps on watching and listening to his story as well. After all, Edward's voice sounds angelic and calming. And when he stopped, she immediately looks at the monitor and sees that Edward getting up from EJ's bed.

He is now tucking her in and also plants a peck on her tiny forehead. "Good night, my little princess. I love you." he whispers as he turns on her night light and turns off the main light in the room.

Maymay immediately turns down the volume of the baby monitor, and pulls the blanket up to her face. She heard the door open and suddenly felt the bed dip on the other side.

"That tired, love?" he whispers. "I wanted to talk to you about our day and all--like what we used to do before." he sighs. "I really miss you."

She didn't respond because she is still pretending to be sleeping. Edward lifts the blanket to cover himself as well, but upon lifting, he stops midway, "Seriously, why so wrapped up? You'll overheat this way." he comments in surprise.

And then, the room became quiet.

Maymay being is starting to relaxt thinking that Edward is already asleep. However, she starts to feel someone's hand on the waistband of her pajama bottoms. "You'll overheat this way, love. I promise, I won't do anything naughty tonight and let you rest." he says as he completely removes her bottom and her sweater.

She slowly opens her eyes when she realizes that only a small piece of fabric is covering her entire body. "Ed-wa--ard, what are you doing?" she asks.

"Relax, baby." he caresses her face with the back of his hand. "You'll overheat with all your clothes on. Don't worry, I won't do anything, you seemed exhausted, love. I'll be good." he then pulls her closer to him. Her head is on his chest, while his entire arm is wrapped around her body.

Skin to skin.

And Edward was right, she would definitely heat up because with their physical contact right now, she's already burning up.But as Edward promised, he kept his hands to himself. He only pressed his lips on her lips once and her hair. "I love you, my sweet. Goodnight."

"Goodnight, Edward" she mumbles back.

At around 2AM, they were awoken by loud cries that are coming from the baby monitor. "Mama.. Papa.."

Maymay sits upright in an instant when she heard EJ crying. And as she is getting out of bed, Edward's hand is already on her arm, halting her movements. "I got it. Go back to sleep, love." And with that, he left her in bed as he walks towards their daughter's room.

She puts her focus on the baby monitor instead since she still wants to check on her daughter.

"Hey princess, what's wrong?" Edward walks toward EJ. "Everything okay?"

EJ jumps to Edward and wraps her short arms around his neck. She doesn't say anything and just continues to cry.

"Shh, baby. Papa is here. Shh.." he calms her. "Papa is here." And then afterwards, he started to hum a very familiar tune that he used to sing for her when she was sad. Unconsciously, she also starts to hum the song.

"...you'll never know dear how much I love you, so please don't take my sunshine away."

And then EJ's cries stopped, and her breathing evened out. "I love you, my sunshine." he plants his lips on EJ's forehead. "So much." He then put her down back on her bed carefully and tucks her properly.
