Surprises are not good, especially if they involve a sword fight.

Prince Ruslan had taught me the battle stance. Feet apart, squaring shoulders and all that but I'm hugely clueless when it comes to using a sword.

I barely manage to swing once before a quick strike by the prince sends my sword flying away.

"  Lesson number two: Know your weapon"

" But...." I fumble " The sword is too heavy "

" I can see that " He states his perfect mask of impassiveness never slipping away.

" Then why don't you give me another sword ?"

" You didn't ask, " He says so simply I can't help the confused frown that pinches my eyebrows.

The prince adds taking note of my confusion " Lesson number three: Use your words " he states regally " A royalty's words  always carry power "

I almost snort.  This coming from a guy who almost never talks, ironic isn't it?

But something tells me he is the kind whose words are few but meaningful and when he uses them people can't help but listen.

" Another sword, please" I request extending my hand towards him.

" Sure "

A new sword appears in my hand. Much thinner and lighter than the one before it" What kind of a sword is this ?"

" It's a Claymore "

" What was the one before it called ?"

"A  broad sword " He replies without the slightest pause.

" Hold on to your sword firmly "

I tighten my grip on it and it feels strange because I have never in my life held a weapon. The closest I have something to a weapon is a taser and fortunately, I have never had to use it on anyone.

" Your sword is more than just a weapon, it is an extension of your arm "

Is that what his sword is to him?

No wonder it is always with him.

" The wielder should always feel the connection with the sword," he says regally " Your sword is you and you are your sword"

This confuses me out because I don't feel any connection with my sword.

It's just some steelDeadly and sharp steel.

I quickly go through the motions he demonstrates. He makes me practice all those moves for over an hour but the sword still doesn't feel like it has connected with me in any way but I guess such a bond can only be formed through experiences and battles.

I wonder how many battles the prince and his sword have faced together.

" How do you keep making the swords appear out of thin air ?"
