It is surprising to know that djinns have hierarchy and the society of these powerful supernatural beings follow a strict bunch of rules.

Aside from laws against possessing, the use of black magic is forbidden too not only because it is of vile nature  but  also  deadly to the djinns it is used against.

Ayelet, who by birth was from a lower class of power was unusually smart and cunning. Her intelligence and ambitious nature made her rise in the ranks of the court of her king  and the king soon began  favouring her opinion over everyone else.

That  in itself is a privilege enjoyed by few but the thirst for more power made her dabble in the dark art of black magic in secrecy and when she gained mastery over them her king was the first one she had murdered.

" Now she intends to have the entire djinn realm under her rule " The Prince concludes  " Almost all kingdoms have  fallen to her dark forces, only a few remain standing "

I swallow thinking that she sounds like every other  dramatic  super villain I have seen in movies or read in books. But it's one thing watching those guys on screen it's  another knowing that such cruel and powerful person wants you dead.

My is fear is perhaps clear on my face.

" Do not worry I have promised your father I will protect you" The prince says firmly  " I'm not an oath breaker "

" Thanks " I mumble pretty unnerved. " But it's still  very intimidating suddenly finding out that your father was a djinn and you are a princess of a kingdom "

" I can imagine " Says the Prince his violet eyes never straying from the forest ahead . The fact that he is a warrior is evident even in the way he looks at things , sharp and focused.

There is something both furious and graceful about the manner he moves that speaks of his immense strength and barely leashed power. I would never want to get in his bad books.

" Many djinns who visit   the mortal realms do not reveal their real identity though they may get infatuated easily and in some rare cases  fall for a mortal " This makes me involuntarily grimace .

The Prince notices that as well " I knew Basheer, He wasn't the  one for gregarious relationships .  He must have fallen  in love with your mother "

For some reason that makes me happy and warms my face at the same time " That is nice to know but my mother never told me about him"

" I'm not surprised, Basheer disappeared from both your lives without any information " I can't help but wonder how our lives would have been if he were in it. It would have been very different, no doubt and now amidst this forset in a supernatural realm, I'm left with thoughts and wishes that can never be fulfilled.

" The kingdoms here were in chaos as Ayelet's army launched  attacks on each and every one.
It was a hard time for all the kings and queens your father was no exception  "

I don't begrudge my mom for not telling me about my father  maybe it was her own way of protecting me .
Now the sense of abandonment  I had felt since childhood because of the absence of my father has faded away. I'm thankful to the prince  for letting me know all about my father but that doesn't stop me from asking ," Can I request you for a favour ?"

The Prince looks at me and my thoughts must have been clear as the day on my face," If you are  going to ask me to  bring your father back  from the dead I'm afraid  it is not  possible for any djinn  "
