Betrayal and death always come unannounced.

I have been betrayed and have had a
near death experience too , and it is still has the ability to shock me as I say about it out loud in front of my council.

None other than Khsjc , The guy who gave me a unicorn as pet ,who I had thought was my friend had tried to kill me !

My brain still can't process it or make complete sense of it .

Jabeen is no less shocked " I never could have imagined " She sums up my exact feelings .

Ghazanfar who had been silent all this while speaks " Prince Ruslan had been interrogating him since the last two days and he had came up with rather shocking revelations "

All the eyes turns towards the Prince whose face remains blank yet he doesn't queit succeed in hiding the exhaution that seems to cling to his handsome features
" To call them shocking would be an understatement " he says " Since his father died fighting in your name as a warrior he blames you for his death" For the brief second that he looks at me his eyes hold sympathy and his expression softens slightly as if he is trying to lend me some strength for what he was going to say next.

Then he turns towards the people gathered in the study hall " In a bid to kill Princess Amelia he sold his soul to a demon from the darkest pits of hell and it started residing in his body "

An involuntary shudder breaks all over my body realising the extent of Khsjc's hatred for me .

" He started conspiring with Ayelet in secret and that is how her assassins knew when and where to find us when the Princess made appearances in public "

" He betrayed our trust " Jabeen says looking hurt and furious at the same time "This was all an elaborate plan to kill Amelia and let Ayelet take over her throne. "

The reality behind those words cuts me very deep because all of the times that I and Khsjc had spent down in the stables , talking and sharing laughs as friends had never been real. He had actually been thinking about killing me .

" Indeed " The Prince says solemnly " But the extent of his betrayal is deeper yet"

I compose myself least I start crying in front of everyone over the loss of a friend who had never actually been a friend but a scheming demon in disguise.

" During the interrogation he revealed that Ayelet and all her other followers himself included are working towards awakening the false massiah , the dajjal "

A collective gasp of terror breaks across the entire place as faces pale displaying different degrees of horror and disgust .

" Who is dajjal ? "
" The most dangerous of being to ever exist " Jabeen explains
" He has the powers of black magic , manipulation and deception . The illusions created by him can make realty seem fake and worthless to anyone's eyes "

" He doesn't wage a war using armies .He uses something far more difficult and complicated - he uses people's minds . He sucks away their will to stand against him and instead convinces them that he is right , bending them to his will , to fight for him , to consider him as the God .

Every myth claims that he remains chained beneath the lands of our realm and can only be unleashed by the strongest of black magic practitioner "

" Does that mean Ayelet ?"

" Who else but her ? " Jabeen counters " She had conquered all but a few kingdoms by her powers"

Hearing my tough and fierce cousin say this is too hard to handle .

But it feels like a punch to my gut when Prince Ruslan speaks " Once the Dajjal is unleashed it's a lost battle. We won't stand a chance against him "

The fact that he is saying such words makes me realise how very dangerous the dajjal is .

" We have to defeat Ayelet before she succeeds in unleashing him " I voice my opinion and the grave expressions on everyone's face confirms that they are thinking the same.

" What about Khsjc?" Jabeen questions " We can't let him be in our dungeon forever . He isn't even a djinn now but a demon "

" You are correct " Ghazanfer asserts
" He should be punished accordingly "

"As per the djinn laws the only punishment for planning a royalty's assassination is public execution " Prince Ruslan's words make my stomach drop to my toes " What ?"

He looks me straight in the eyes as if knowing exactly the reluctance arising in my mind and planning to nip it instantly " He is it to be made example of what happens to the crown's traitor so no one dares to repeat it "

"It has been Djinn law for ages now ." Jabeen says sympathetic towards my reluctance to take a life no matter how vile it is.

I know she speaks the truth. I have read about this in the books but it sounds strange to hear them now in association with me .

I understand why the punishment has to be harsh and I know its necessity and importantance.
We don't want such traitors popping up all across my kingdom.

But it doesn't mean I'm happy about executing it

I can't think about killing Khsjc.

I had attacked him back when he had attacked me in the alley to save myself and I'm not going to lie- it was to finish him because it was either my life or his but now, devoid of the heat of the moment the thought of taking his life is something I can't come to terms with. It is something that I want to keep denying though I know it won't be of any use.

I shiver not because of the cold wind that blows in through the large windows of the study , but thinking of what more terrible things this power will demand from me .

Will I become cold hearted and devoid of any compassion ?

Ayelet is very cunning and her dealings with Khsjc prove that she won't hesitate to use people of my own kingdom against me so by the time all of this ends, will I have any kindness left inside me ?

What do guys think about the punishment that will be given to Khsjc ?

Too harsh ? Or is he deserving of it ?

A little heads up , The
Next chapter is going to be more than a little violent.
