Chapter 34 Is This a Date?!? (edited)

For some reason Rose felt off, her stomach was in knots while her head pounded. Was it the fact that she was with Hyde tonight? Was it the feeling of fright, knowing that Ratchet is still out there? Or was it the feeling of guilt because she left Tsubaki at the mansion by himself?

Shaking the thoughts away Rose held the menu closer to her face 'I won't let my feelings ruin my fun.' However, Rose was caught off guard. She started to bite her fingernails as if it was programmed into her DNA. 'Am I nervous? Of course, I am...I've never done anything like this...this is the first time I've been somewhere that's fancy...wait...is this a date?!? Am I on a date with Hyde?!? But how? Why...?"

Rose could feel her foot start to tap nervously as she continued to bite her nails. "So, what are you going to have Rose?" "I-I'm not f-for s-sure Hyde..." Instantly Hyde noticed Rose's change in mood, her posture was not the same. Her actions confused him 'I don't understand, why is she so nervous...I bought her new clothes, she's got a new look...Wait! Maybe I should compliment her!'

Mentally snapping his fingers Hyde put down his menu and ever so slowly he slid Rose's menu down, so he could properly see her face. He needed to say what he felt. "Hey, Rose?" "Y-yes?" "As Shakespeare once said 'What's in a name? That we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet; shall I compare thee to a summer's day?'" Smirking pridefully Hyde took Rose's hands into his own "I just wanted to tell you that you look beautiful tonight."

Just as Hyde confessed that she was beautiful, Rose slowly took her hands back. "Hyde- please don't..." Tears threatened to spill out of her eyes "Don't do this to me...I'm not beautiful Hyde, I never was. My sister...Callein- My master's fiancé was the beautiful one. I was just a mistake. I-I also don't know if I can handle a compliment like that...especially after what happened today"

Hyde was fully taken aback. He never meant for Rose to feel sad; however, here she was, tearing up at a fancy restaurant. 'how could I be so insensitive? just for a moment, I forgot everything that happened today. I wanted to make her smile but all I did was make her upset...' Hyde mentally slapped himself. "Rose; I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to make you upset- I just..." "It's fine Hyde. No need to apologize...Let's just forget about it and get back to dinner, okay?"

Hyde sighed once Rose covered her face back with the menu. "May I take your order, sir?" There were many things on the Menu, but Hyde only wanted one thing "I'll take the ham wr-" pausing Hyde looked straight on. He knew that all too familiar voice. He looked up slowly to see Tsubaki with a crazed smile on his face while giving him a death glare. "Tsubaki?!?" Rose looked up instantly to come in eye contact with the Servamp of melancholy. All eyes were on Tsubaki including some of the other customers. Smiling down at Hyde once more, Tsubaki repeated himself "May I take your order, sir?"

Hyde glared up at his younger brother, he harshly whispered, "why are you here Tsubaki?" "why~ this is where I work~" "You don't have a job Tsubaki." "Consider it a part-time job~ you have one, so why can't I~?" Hyde growled in a low voice, but Tsubaki's smile only grew wider. "Why are you here." "I'm here to retrieve what's mine brother number five. You see, I've been waiting patiently for Rose to come back home, and she hasn't. The hot springs boy was kind enough to tell me where you took my dear Rose. I am here to retrieve her and take her back home." Tsubaki looked towards Rose and smiled "I see my brother has taken you out shopping. You look...different...Now, enough with these formalities. I am here to take you home. You've been away from me and the subclass for far too long."

Rose looked down at the menu then to Tsubaki. She wanted to go and be with Tsubaki, but a pang of guilt hit her all at once. "I-I think I will stay here with Hyde for just a little bit longer." "Wha?" Tsubaki looked at Rose shocked, "you're joking, right my Rose?" "I-I'm not joking Tsubaki...I want to finish dinner with Hyde. But, I do need to talk to you later...how about I meet you at the park after?"

Tsubaki Sighed then glared at Hyde, he pondered at the thought of Hyde taking Rose away and the thought made him angry; nevertheless, it was Rose's decision to do so. "Fine, I will let this happen. Just remember brother, Rose is mine. Don't forget that." Without another word, Tsubaki walked out of the restaurant.

"I'm so sorry about that Hyde..." "What does he mean by you are his? Are you guys dating or something? I know about the bite but that doesn't give him the right to call you his property. you are your own person."

Smiling down at her lap Rose blushed, she just wished that was the case. "Well, I would love to date him...you see, when I first met Tsubaki he told me that out of your siblings I would help him the most. I guess you can say that I've grown a strong connection with Tsubaki...I like him...truth be told, when he bit me I was scared, but at the same time, I wanted it to happen...truthfully, I wish he was mine. I mean I know that this mark he left on my neck is a sign that I'm his, but-" Hyde looked at Rose astonished. "Wait, you're telling me that you love that psycho? Seriously?!?" "I guess if you put it that way...I do, I love Tsubaki." Even though Hyde was astonished he knew that Tsubaki did make Rose happy.

Hyde chuckled to himself and motioned to the door with his head, "why are you still here, you should go confess to him. He makes you happy Rose. As your friend your happiness is my priority. I guess I was a little greedy keeping you away from him. I was just worried due to what happened earlier. You need to tell him that you like him. Take it from me, don't let the opportunity slip away." "no, you were right Hyde." "wait...I was? About what?" "I need to spend more time with you and others. Tsubaki isn't the only Servamp. After we finish dinner I will go talk to him, then after that perhaps everyone could sit around in the entertainment room at the mansion and prepare for Licht's upcoming event." "That would be nice."
