ASHTON’S P.O.V

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP.

The noise of the heart monitor went through me. Finding my sister half dead in the bathroom was heart breaking enough but now I’m getting a headache because of this stupid machine that’s making sure she’s alive. I felt guilty for calling mum home early because we need the money but not as guilty as I do with my sister lying half dead. It’s my fault she’s here; if I hadn’t of teased her all the time and if I had just stood up for her when Amber was first a bitch Kelly wouldn’t be here now.

I’ve been here all night and I’ve not had a wink of sleep. I can’t sleep. I need to know she’s okay before I can rest easily. The nurses have been running in and out. They’ve been great checking if the machines are okay, seeing if it’s clear of any more injuries apart from the scars from the cutting and the overdose.

Mum dropped Lauren and Harry off at Grandma Jo’s until we come home. She actually really understood about it especially considering the situation wanted to do all she can to help. Tanya and Louise are in the waiting room for any news and we had to force Meghan to get on her flight to England.

“Ash you can’t keep beating yourself up about this, it’s not all your fault mate,” Michael whispered. I looked at up at him, my eyes red and sore from crying and he had a sympathetic look on his face. That’s the last thing I need. Sympathy.

“No Michael, you don’t understand,” I mumbled and walked out. The beeping was annoying me and I needed fresh air. I just wanted her to be okay. I’ve been praying all night and it’s only half come true. I want her to wake up when I go back in. I want to give her a massive hug. I want to become as close to her as she will let me, like the old times. The only problem is I grew up to mum saying ‘I wants don’t gets’. I leaned on the railing and closed my eyes. Taking in the fresh air that hit my pure face.

“Take me instead,” I muttered to myself. If anyone should die it should be me not Kel.

MICHAEL’S P.O.V

“He’s not coping,” I said as I sat in the waiting room along with Tanya, Louise, Luke and Calum.

“She seemed fine,” Tanya commented. We all slept here last night hoping that some good news would come to us.

“I told her she could talk to me,” Luke blurted. I looked up at him and felt a rush of anger flow through my body.

“You’ve had a crush on her for five minutes and you’re telling her that she can trust you,” I said through my teeth. He looked up at me with his sorrow eyes.

“Says you! You’ve had a crush on her since year 7 and all you’ve done is made her life a living hell,” he gave a half-hearted smile with a slight laugh in his voice.
