PART 9

The wolf shot through the forest, tearing through the foliage mercilessly as he ran with all his might. His breath steady as he breathed in the faint scent of his mate, which slowly grew stronger by the minute.

'Aeris I'm coming,' he declared as if the male could hear him, picking up the pace so that he could see his suburban neighborhood in the distance.

He busted out of the woods and barreled towards the house. Not stopping for one moment as he barged through the front door, knocking the hefty mahogany to the floor. His weight something the wood could not withstand.

He sniffed, his senses picking up something foreign.

Something vampiric.

Barreling up the stairs, he rounded the corner, his eyes red as he approached the bedroom, his mate's scent inside and another. Letting out a growl he couldn't hold himself back, his wolf taking full control as he launched himself into the room.

A vicious snarl escaping him as he watched the male stand up, his eyes blood red as he eyed the wolf. Annoyance and irritation evident in his expression.

"Chase you're late," he scoffed, "What a big surprise."

Not one to back down, especially against his overzealous cousin, the wolf stalked in. His large body seemingly out of place in the boys average sized pink and lilac bedroom.

"Yeah... yeah wolf boy," he sneered as he did the same, taking on a very volatile stance as he stood to face the wolf.

"We've done this plenty of times and I promise you this time, will be no different."

At that, Chase launched, tackling the vamp to the ground, his strong jaw aiming for his neck as the vampire immediately lashed back. Punching the wolf in the stomach with all his might, as he tried to knock him off of his balance.

"He's mine," Damien hissed, shoving the wolf off again, only to have him bounding back at full force.

The sound of their scuffle resounding throughout the house, causing the small unconscious male on the bed to stir.

The wolf wasn't giving up any time soon, and Damien knew that since his cousin was never the type to give up. Even as toddlers fighting over action figures and board games.

"I've bitten him," he declared, staring straight into the wolf's eyes, "I've marked him."

That was enough to cause the animal to go rigid, Chase's mind going into overdrive as he tried to figure out what he could do. He was too late.

He'd never be able to mark him, not when his cousin already had.

The marks were irreversible, irreplaceable.

Tremors raked throughout his body, and it wasn't long before he was standing there, human and completely naked.

His eyes the size of saucers as he stalked towards Damien, who had his own scowl plastered on his face as Chase slammed him against the wall.

"You've done this on purpose! You fuck!"

He roared, his fist slamming into the wall next to him, breaking the plaster into tiny pieces. Some embedding themselves in his skin, though that was the least of his concerns.

"He's my mate too! What would you expect me to do huh?"' Damien pushed back, his fangs extended as he got in his face.

"Oh, then should I just let you have him? Just stand by and watch while you're happy with him, just like always?" Damien sneered, his stance rigid as his eyes stared the other male down, the vamp ready to attack at any moment.

"I swear to god if we weren't fucking related- " Chase sneered, not backing down one bit. His sharp canines on full display.

"You'd do what huh? You'd kill me?" Damien scoffed, shoving his cousin away. "You know full well that if you kill me, my coven will kill you."

"And vice versa," Chase retorted not a moment later, calming down a bit, but still livid with his cousin.

If he wanted to, he could order his pack to tear the bloodsucker to shreds, but what would that solve? It wouldn't erase what he had done to his mate.

The boy was unconscious, his face completely flushed and rosy lips in a small pout. His breathing a little heavier than normal, Chase's eyes narrowing when his sight landed on the bite. Two pins sized circular holes embedded in the boy's pink flesh, the skin around them, raised and red.

He felt bad for the younger, he was mad that he couldn't protect him.

"Oh, you're feeling sorry now, huh?" Damien sneered, walking over to the bed, his large hand wrapping around the small boy's wrist.

"Don't you fucking dare," Chase growled, the sound vibrating throughout his chest. The shifter taking one more advancing step towards the bloodsucker, who only smirked.

The unconscious boy was wrapped in his arms in seconds, the movement so quick, the wolf's hypersensitive eyes almost couldn't keep up.

Keyword, almost.

Just as Damien got ready to lunge out of the double pane window, Chase grabbed a pencil from Aeris's desk. Poising it for a millisecond before launching it, almost like a dart, straight towards the bloodsucker's heart.

An action that didn't go unnoticed by the vampire. His expression quickly contorting into one of anger and a sort of betrayal as the air bent and warped, then he was gone.

The pencil falling harmlessly to the carpeted floor.

And Aeris falling to the mattress, as if he'd never even been disturbed, a soft whine leaving his plump lips.

Vampires were so fickle, Chase thought, a smirk playing on his lips.

He had won this fight, but he doubted next time he'd be so lucky.

He was still surprised the pencil had worked, something Damien would probably never ever speak a word of, considering it was beyond embarrassing that's what had scared him off.

He neared his teeny mate, wrapping his frail body in the confines of his muscled arms. Laying him to rest against his chest, as he listened to the soft purs the smaller admitted.

Damien would never win.

Not this time.
