PART 15

Chases arousal was unfortunately short-lived, as a piercing scream tore through the night. The blonde immediately sitting up, his wolf on edge and not for the right reasons. Just as his beta, Aaron busted in the door, almost ripping the cast iron hinges straight from the wall.

"We have a problem," he spoke, voice hoarse and canines elongated. He was on the verge of shifting and Chase needed to find out why.

"I heard that... what was it?" He asked, the male grabbing a shirt from the floor as he shrugged it on, the material bulging around his muscular shoulders and biceps.

"We're being attacked," Aaron replied curtly glancing at Aeris for a moment, the boy curled up against the deep mahogany headboard,  a look of utter and absolute fear in his big brown eyes.

Chase followed his gaze, the males gaze turning soft as he rushed over to the boy, placing a warm hand on his shoulder.

"Look I need to take care of something so I need you to stay here... I will send guards to block the door," he leaned down, worry written all over his face.

"I need you to stay safe, okay? Do not leave this room," he warned once more, standing back up to face Aaron once again as a multitude of screams rose into the cool midnight summer air.

"He won't get away with this," he seethed, the blonde following the brunette as they both left, slamming the bedroom door behind them.

Aeris hearing the deadbolt click in place.

The scene outside was horrifying, Chase couldn't bear to see his pack suffering like this. The house was ablaze in bright fiery red flames and even the woods beyond, it was an all-out war. Since it had happened so suddenly, his warriors weren't as fast as they could've been, weren't as strong, though, despite all of that, Chase watched as they fought the vampires with all of their might.

Chase shifted the minute his feet touched the lawn, his large ivory colored wolf leaping into the battle. Unafraid and unreserved.

The wolf pounced on the first bloodsucker he saw, his large canines puncturing the nape, ripping the vamps head from its body. The creature letting out a guttural and rather obscene wail as it fell to the floor, it's crimson blood seeping into the grass.

"Alpha watch out!" He heard just as a shadow came down behind him, the vamp clutching onto his back, Chase trying desperately to throw him off.

Vampires were very finicky creatures and they were one of the most difficult things to kill due to their gift of immortality, though ripping off their head always seemed to do it.

Sinking his teeth into the leeches leg, he yanked on the limb, the bloodsucker falling to the ground underneath him as Chase once more, tore the skull from the creature's body. Rendering it completely lifeless.

'We've got to put out that fire!' He yelled through the mind link, the flames reflecting in the wolf's eyes.

He got a chorus of replies, the pack agreeing wholeheartedly but they were too overwhelmed with the onslaught that Chase knew it wasn't going to be an easy task.

Though his real mission would be finding Damien and ripping his head from his body, separating the tendons and tearing the precious sinews.

From now on, he was a threat and could no longer be allowed to live.

Aeris clasped his hands over his ears as the screams grew louder. The male rocking back and forth on the mattress, his heels digging into the springs.

"It's okay Aeris! They won't get past me I promise," Darren reassured the male through the locked door, his voice muffled and somewhat hoarse.

He had never actually heard his brother sound like this before. It was terrifying.

The other guards had arrived too, and he could hear their quiet ramblings through the door, they were nervous and due to some annual mission in the cold and snowy terrains of Alaska, some of the warriors were not here, they were training. For what, Aeris did not know, and it made him increasingly worried about what would become of Chase.

What would become of himself?

All these questions repeated over and over in his mind, he had never been in a situation like this. Aaron, Darren, and Derrick were always there to protect him, shelter him but now he was fearing the worst.

The boy jumped in fright as he heard a slam against the window and then another, the cerulean glass beginning to crack underneath the pressure.

He jumped off the bed and ran for what he assumed was the closet, the male pulling the handle as he threw himself inside. Locking the door quietly behind him as he looked around for somewhere to hide because the sound was growing louder and he didn't know how long the window would hold.

He thought to call for help but that wasn't necessarily smart, because then they would know his exact location and that would be even worse.

Ducking down beneath the long pant legs of Chases many suits, Aeris curled up into a ball there. Tears streaming down his rosy cheeks as he dug his fingernails into the skin around his knees, the thin pajama pants he was wearing tearing underneath his vice-like grip.

That was when he heard it.

A deafening crash blaring through the other side of the door.

Aeris covering his ears, completely terrified as deep tremors racked his body and shook him to his core.

Another sound joining the previous, banging on the bedroom door as the guards and his brother tried to get in. The males shouting and searching for the supposed key, Aeris hoping they found it as heavy footsteps entered the room.

His eyes following the shadows under the door, as the moonlight shined beneath it.

There was at least three of them.

Biting his lip, he dove deeper into the space. Hoping that the fabric would hide him and that since it was towards the back of the walk-in closet, they'd give up their search.

Though his luck had since run out.
