PART 13

Aeris didn't like being manhandled at the best of times.

But that was exactly what happened as soon as Chase pulled up to their school, his lavish sports car amassing an unmeasurable amount of attention before they even got out.

Though that same attention doubled as soon as they did.

Aeris cowering behind the tall blonde as he led them to the front gate, his hand on the smaller boys wrist, keeping him close. Impossibly close.

"Chase can you let go...?" he managed to let out before he was abruptly cut off, the blonde letting out a mere grunt in rejection of the idea.

Licking his lips, the boy looked down at his feet not saying anything else as he was practically dragged into the school. All eyes on them as they rounded the corner and entered the main hallway, whispers rising all around them.

It wasn't long before they stopped in front of Chases locker, the blonde putting the brunette in front of him, wrapping his arms around his shoulders in a kind of protective stance.

"So are you guys dating or...?" A tall brunette asked, the rest of Chase's group watching along in intrigue.

Aeris had seen them around the school before, they were all so attractive, it was almost unnatural. Though he couldn't tell if they were werewolves or not, they seemed so mundane.

"I mean, I heard they were," a blonde girl answered his question, her tone rather spiteful as she gave Aeris a hostile look.

Frowning, the boy looked down at his feet, eyeing his beat-up sneakers as Chase finally spoke, a sigh leaving his lips as his baritone voice vibrated straight through his chest.

"Yes we are, actually Aeris is my boyfriend," he announced nonchalantly, the whole group shocked into complete silence.

Blushing, the brunette continued to look down at his feet, the noisy hallway growing even louder as more and more students began to arrive for morning lessons. If he knew it would've been this humiliating coming to school, he wouldn't have come at all, Chase wasn't necessarily subtle about their newfound relationship and Aeris wasn't necessarily comfortable with that.

"Aeris? How are you doing baby bro?" Derek's voice came out of nowhere, the brunette in question looking up in excitement at the thought of seeing a familiar face.

"Darren and I were thinking about going to a restaurant at lunch, your pick again?" Derek asked, smiling warmly at his little brother, even though he had completely ignored Chase and his group of friends.

"Yes I'd love to-" he answered excitedly but was cut off once more.

Chase tightening his grip on Aeris as he pushed him behind his built body, a smirk on his face as he said, "Sorry but he's coming with me for lunch, we already have something planned."

"Dude back off thats my brother," Derek gritted out, the male taking a step
forward, brows furrowed as he started to get agitated which Chase responded to with a deep, guttural growl.

The sound scaring Aeris shitless.

At that, Derek backed off not wanting to cause any more tension and with one last halfhearted smile towards his little brother, he walked off.

Aeris feeling almost like he wanted to cry. Why keep him from his family? That was his brother for Christ sake.

The rest of the day went on this way, Chase being overly protective and Aeris being depressed about it. Though he didn't let his disapproval go unnoticed, the male jumping out of the car and running straight to his room the second they got home. Locking the door behind him.

If Chase was going to act like that, he didn't want to be bothered.

The cavern was dark, so dark Aeris couldn't even see his hands right in front of him.

How did he get here?

Where was he?

Chills ran down his spine and up the back of his arms, goosebumps rising in their place. He opened his mouth to call out, but nothing came out. The darkness suffocating him, and that's when he heard it-

"Oh I didn't mean to scare you, I was just too excited to wait," a disembodied voice spoke, breaking Aeris out of his momentary stupor.

The male trembling as red eyes appeared in the darkness, their brightness growing more and more as the orbs moved closer and closer.

Until they were right in front of him.

Too shocked to even scream, the boy let out a small choking noise as he was suddenly pushed against the wall of the cavern by an unknown force.

The voice speaking once more, "My name is Damien and you are my beloved."

Aeris awoke with a start, the boy covered in a cold sweat, panting heavily as he grasped at the satin sheets beneath him.

The apparent nightmare had left the boy a shaking, trembling mess though one question remained evident, manifesting somewhere in the deepest confines of his mind;

Who was Damien?
