PART 11The silence seemed to stretch on as he waited for his brother to continue, his nerves going haywire as he gripped at the stark white comforter underneath him. Darren was never this serious, he wasn't capable of it.
Though right now as he stared into Aeris's eyes, the boy felt like he would say something that would change his life. Forever.
"We're werewolves," he muttered nonchalantly, leaning back against the bed on his elbows, Aeris's jaw-dropping at the news.
What the fuck?
"Are you kidding me...?" Aeris replied, the boy's mouth gaping open like a fish.
"Really Darren?" He shouted standing up, "You've got be fucking kidding me..."
At this his brother wasn't too happy, the male jumping up just as quickly, "I love you and all... but you need to watch your language."
The boy knew not to test his older brother so he conceded because that's what he had always done in life.
"Now if you'd let me explain," he began again, urging the male to sit back down, "We are... though completely unlike that stupid romance series you watch, it doesn't take us seconds to shift, it takes a couple minutes to maybe even an hour all depending on how many times we have actually done it. Another thing is that we have to hide our existence and we follow specific rules constantly."
Aeris was completely quiet, still believing this was all some kind of sick joke his brother was playing.
"Like being in a pack and Aaron is the alpha of our pack. He leads fiercely and will defend it with his life, we are also one of the strongest in this part of the world. Me and Derrick, we serve as his betas. We enforce his every word and make sure that stuff runs smoothly," He paused eyeing his younger brother for a moment but besides looking a bit pale, he seemed alright.
"There are about five hundred members in our pack and we all collectively believe in what we call the Moon Goddess she decides our fate and who we will be spending the rest of our lives with. Every wolf has a mate, every human has a partner. It goes hand and hand, and the bond once it's made... is unbreakable," he bit his lip before continuing, "And your mate is Chase, the alpha of this pack."
At this the male was beyond confused, "W-what does that even mean?"
"It means you will live with him from now on, marry him and eventually... mate with him," the male gritted his teeth at the thought and that sent a blush to Aeris's pale cheeks.
"W-why why do I have to?" He shouted, his chest moving up and down in quick successions as he struggled to breathe.
"Because this is what the Moon Goddess has chosen for you little brother..." he licked his lips, glancing nervously around the room.
"You will mate him then carry his offspring- ""
"I'm a boy!" He cried, eyes watering up as he shook his head profusely. "Men can't have kids..." he repeated, closing his eyes as he looked down at his lap.
"Yeah... but you can," Darren deadpanned, "You're a special type of werewolf, an omega to be exact. You can have pups, and eventually, your body will tell you and begin the change."
Aeris was still in complete denial, making choked sobs, again and again, that sounded scary. His experience with anything sexual in the past was horrible and he knew he never wanted to do anything like it again.
Darren's face softened knowing why the boy was going through all of this turmoil, middle school hadn't been the best to him and it had even left him with some nightmares and definite trauma.
"Look," he kneeled down, pulling his brother into a hug, "This will all happen when you're ready, I promise, that's why I'm here."
He cupped the boy's cherubic face, smiling at his red button nose and rosy cheeks.
"We honestly didn't even know you were a wolf, we were never going to say anything because we thought you weren't. You've never shifted and have never shown any sign of it, we thought you were human. Until Chase came along and said you were his mate. It threw us off completely and we realized we now had to introduce you into this new and completely foreign world, one that is a lot more dangerous than the human one could ever be. We were scared just like you're scared now, but I promise we will always protect you," he declared, holding the smaller boy against his chest as he sobbed against his shirt.
Darren patting his back with a sigh, if Chase ever hurt him, he promised to kill him where he stood.
Darren picked up Aeris's petite body, easily shifting him around in his arms as he carried him to the bed, deciding that was enough for today. He knew it was a lot and the boy probably had a million and one questions, but he would let him sleep on it first.
Aeris snuggled into the covers, sluggishly pulling his jeans off, tossing them onto the other side of the room.
Darren chuckled at this as he watched the male get comfortable, closing his eyes softly.
"Try not to get too worked up," he warned, patting his soft head before pulling away, "Sweet dreams, little one."
Grabbing his bag from the floor, he left, closing the door softly behind him. Aeris would feel better tomorrow and if not... him and Chase would have a lot of work to do.
And eventually, Darren would have to leave, leaving Aeris all alone.
