It had been a long week and Sam just wanted to sleep. He laid back on the motel bed with a plop while Dean went to shower. They had worked a long case chasing down a local witch, Gabriel had called them to let them know about the case and they begrudgingly took it. It turned out to be more than one, which is why they found themselves running in circles. Now Sam could relax, for a minute anyway.

"Hey Samsquatch," Gabriel's voice said suddenly from beside the hunter.

"No," Sam growled rolling over to bury his face in the pillow.

"Oh come on, you were complaining that Dean needed to let off some steam so I got you a case, you owe me," Gabriel poked Sam in the side, earning another muffled growl.

Sam lifted his head enough to glare at the archangel, "What do you want?" Sam and Gabriel had agreed to keep the fact that Sam had been looking for a case to relax Dean, between them. They'd lost the Colt and Dean was angry. Hunting made him less angry, but things were quiet. Sam called in a favor and now he in fact did owe Gabriel.

"I want to buy you a drink," Gabriel grinned.

"Seriously that's what you're gonna waste your one favor on? Getting me to go out with you?" Sam rolled his eyes. Typical.

"I figure it's the only way I'll get to," Gabriel shrugged. He couldn't help that Sam was playing hard to get.

"Fine, one drink, then you bring me back, cause I'm exhausted," Sam sat up with a sigh.

"Not a chance," Gabriel snapped his fingers and Sam felt like he'd just gotten the best night of sleep ever. "I get you for no less than two hours."

Sam rolled his eyes, It was a neat trick, but now it forced him to spend the evening with Gabriel.

Sam left a note for Dean saying that he went out and would be back later. He knew he'd be questioned in the morning, but he could deal with that then. Right now he had to deal with the fact that Gabriel had just ordered them shots. Sam didn't do shots. The occasional beer sure, but never shots. He rarely made a mixed drink, and that was usually when he was alone and trying to drown out something.

Sam opened his mouth to tell Gabriel that exact thing, but Gabriel spoke up first.

"I know, you don't do shots, but just do one with me, please?" Gabriel looked at him with pleading gold eyes. It was a unique color that you didn't see often. He wondered if it was an angel thing for their eyes to always be so vibrant. Cas' eyes were a bright blue that Sam had often thought were too blue to be purely human.

"Fine, one," Sam gave in. He knew arguing with Gabe was useless. And the less he fought the easier the night would go, or so he hoped.

Gabriel started off the evening by questioning the case Sam had just finished. He knew from watching the hunter that he liked to talk about a case after if it was an exceptionally confusing one. He listened as Sam jabbered about how he had been right about the second witch and how Dean had almost got turned into a frog by the first witch. He spoke with a spark in his eyes that Gabriel had grown fond of. In fact there wasn't much about Sam that Gabriel wasn't fond of. He loved that he was smart, and the way he would patronize Dean. He loved that Sam would do anything for his brother and Cas. He loved how Sam would clear his throat when Cas and Dean forgot he was in the room, or the judgmental looks Sam handed out like candy on Halloween. He loved that Sam would owe the archangel just to help ease his brother's tension. And that was just his personality traits. Don't get him started on his looks.

"Anyway, thanks for finding it for us," Sam said staring down at the beer Gabriel had gotten him after their shots.

"Sure thing, Kiddo," Gabriel smirked. He knew that Sam hated when he called him that.
