As it turned out leaving Cas with Future Dean had been a mistake. When Dean walked into the bunker it was silent. He dropped the bag of food on the war room table and made his way to the library. Sam had a strict no food in the library rule.
Sam was at the table surrounded by spell books, but he was alone.
"Where's Cas?" Dean asked when his brother looked up.
"I don't know," Sam shook his head. He looked like he was about to say something else, but Dean walked out before he had the chance.
Dean reached what was essentially Cas' room. He'd only stayed in it a few nights when he was human but it was still his. The door was slightly ajar. Dean pushed it the rest of the way open.
Cas was sitting on the bed leaned back against the headboard with himself layed out next to the angel. Dean fought the nausea and anger that built up inside him.
On the tv was one of Dean's favorite movies.
"You're watching Tombstone?" Dean snapped at the pair.
"I can't believe you haven't made him watch this yet?" Future Dean gestured to the tv where the movie had barely started.
"Okay, you know what," Dean walked over and turned off the tv. "You go help Sam get plates out for dinner," Dean pointed at Cas. "And you and I need to have a chat." Dean gestured at himself.
Cas got up without arguing. Future Dean however looked pissed.
"When are you gonna stop talking to him like that?" Future Dean growled out.
"What are you talking about?" Dean huffed. He was so ready to be rid of this guy.
"You treat him like a damn soldier. He's your best friend, how 'bout you act like it," Future Dean snapped, standing.
"Look, you may be me but you don't get to come in here and start throwing around orders. This is my year, not yours," Dean barked, his finger pointed at himself.
"I see you've still got that stick up your ass," Future Dean snarked, "You're just mad cause you don't have balls to-"
"Don't you finish that sentence," Dean interrupted harshly. He knew himself too well. And he guessed by the way he was with Cas that his feelings towards the angel hadn't changed five years from now.
Dean turned and stomped towards the war room where Sam and Cas had the Chinese food spread out. He poured himself another whiskey and sat next to Sam.
"So I have another spell that might work," Sam said around a bite of noodles, "I just need to work out one ingredient detail."
"What kind of detail?" Future Dean asked walking in then. He purposefully took a seat next to Cas being sure to slide closer to the angel.
Dean immediately regretted taking his usual seat instead of opting for the one next to Cas.
"Translation. It's either virgin blood or yarrow root. They translate similarly," Sam explained.
"Great," Dean huffed sarcastically.
Future Dean noticed Cas eyeing the other Dean. Yet the hunter remained oblivious. Future Dean decided to take advantage of the situation.
"Cas if I'm stuck here overnight, I'm bunking with you and we can finish our movie," Future Dean winked at the angel.
Sam paused mid bite, his eyes darting towards Dean. He looked murderous.
"I'd like that," Cas smiled fondly at the future hunter.
