Gabriel slumped in a chair across form Cas. He had been left behind while Sam and Dean ran a hunt. He was put on babysitting duty. Rowena had put a nasty spell on Cas and it had him out of sorts.

"No, Dean listen...According to the lore, the timing is off. The next solar eclipse in North America is years away. It's can't be-" Cas was cut off by Dean who was on speakerphone.

"Hang on."

"Dean, wait. Listen it couldn't be...Dean?" Cas sighed as a growling sounded from the receiver.

"Scratch that. You gotta cut off their..." Another growl sounded.

"Dean, it's not a Whisper," Cas huffed.

"Yeah, I'm starting to get that. Give me a second. All right. Smile asshat. All right, Cas, you there?" Dean spoke into the receiver again.

"Of course. What's going on?" Cas asked looking up at Gabriel.

"Well whatever it is, silver slows it down. I uh, I'm sending you a picture right now of it's fangs. I've never seen anything like it. See if there's a match in the lore, would ya?"

"I'm on it," Castiel hung up then.

"They okay?" Gabriel frowned. Why had they called Cas and not him?

"Yeah, they're just unsure of what they're up against," Cas nodded.

"So much for a milk run," Gabriel rolled his eyes. He might have been a bit bitter about being left behind.

"You're upset they called me and not you," Cas stated flipping through the book he was looking at.

"Sam said they needed me to stay and make sure you were okay, but then they call you and have you doing research for them. I just..." Gabriel trailed off. It's not that he and Sam were having problems it's just that Sam had been so preoccupied lately and it seemed like Sam was trying to leave Gabriel behind a lot. It made Gabriel feel like maybe Sam didn't care about him the same way that he used to.

"I'll be in my room," Gabriel stood then.

"If it makes you feel better it was Dean who called me, not Sam," Cas offered gently.

Gabriel shrugged. He wished that did make him feel better, but it didn't.

He'd wondered if it was his vessel. Sam was a gorgeous guy and could have anyone he wanted, what was so special about Gabriel. Maybe that was why he was left behind, because Sam was ashamed of him. Gabriel fought the urge to call his hunter. He didn't want to be that boyfriend. He could talk to him about it when Sam got back.

-

When Sam got back, Gabriel didn't talk to him about it, in fact he avoided Sam as much as possible.

It had been late when Sam and Dean got back, and they had gone straight to bed. Gabriel took that opportunity to go out for a bit. He managed to be gone until late afternoon. He'd avoided Sam's calls and responded to his texts only to let him know he was okay.

Now he was heading towards the weapons room to let off a little steam at the shooting range.

Sam rarely went in there unless they were prepping for a hunt.

"Cas, you know what's up with Gabriel?" Sam asked sitting on the bed next to the angel.

"What do you mean?" Cas asked pausing the episode of Orange is the New black he was watching.

"I haven't seen him in three days and he's been out since we've been back. I think he's avoiding me," Sam admitted. It wasn't uncommon for Sam and Cas to talk about Gabriel and Dean.
