Dean and Cas got back in around dinner time. Sam had gone and picked up Dean's favorite diner food for everyone.

Jack was upset that Dean hadn't told him it was his birthday. Apparently Jack wanted to get him a gift so they all got Dean a new gun cleaning kit.

Dean had been shocked and thrilled by the gift. But he didn't know why it was such a big deal until he saw the smile on Jack's face. And he knew. He didn't want Jack to have the same Jaded opinion on birthday's he had. He wanted Jack to be excited for things like birthdays and Halloween. So he allowed the festivities. They were small enough that Dean could allow it, even if it was unnecessary.

Dean was currently helping clean up the table when Sam pulled him aside, "Thanks for not, making a big deal," Sam glanced over at a beaming Jack.

"Nah, it was fine." Dean knew it was mostly for Jack's sake, and he was okay with that.

"Are you okay though? You seem...distracted." Sam asked looking back at Dean.

"Yeah, I just...something Cas said to me earlier," Dean shrugged.

"Oh?" Sam raised his brows curiously.

"He said something and I didn't know what he was talking about, he said he wouldn't talk about it because I didn't like to, but I don't have a clue what he's talking about. When I pushed it, he said he wouldn't tell me today. He didn't want to ruin my birthday. As if anything he said would ruin my birthday," Dean snorted. "I'm pretty sure it was doomed to be ruined about two months before my seven birthday."

Sam frowned. That would have been November of eighty three. The month the fire happened in Sam's nursery.

"Anyway, you have any idea of what he was talking about?" Dean asked.

"No, sorry man, he hasn't said anything to me," Sam shrugged.

Dean sighed. It was a long shot, but he tried anyway.

-

Dean layed in bed. His mind reeling with what Cas could have meant by what he said.

"That makes it all worth it."

Seeing Dean smile made what worth it? Worth what? Or did Cas being able to make Dean smile make it worth it?

Dean groaned as he sat up, it wasn't even ten yet, but he couldn't wait until tomorrow. Dean made his way to Cas' room. He could hear the tv inside.

He knocked gently. He heard Cas shuffle to the door and open it.

Dean's mouth fell open. Cas was in his slacks and his button down only. Dean rarely saw Cas out of his jackets but when he did it was always appealing to the hunter. However, this time, Cas' tie was also missing, and his shirt was untucked.

"Dean, is everything alright?" Cas asked with a slight frown.

"Uh, not really," Dean ran a hand along the back of his neck anxiously.

"Come in, talk to me," Cas gestured to Dean to enter. He closed the door and with a waved of his hand the tv shut off.

"I don't meant to intrude, I was just-"

"You're never intruding, Dean," Cas cut in then.

That familiar warmth swelled in Dean.

"You're troubled," Cas frowned at the hunter.

"I know you said you'd tell me tomorrow, but I can't sleep, it's bugging me, man. I got to know what you were talking about." Dean let out a frustrated huff.
