"So, I have a question." I stated, resting my arms behind my back as I walked alongside Loki. We had decided to take our lunch to the garden instead of inside like we usually did, as summer had come a few weeks early. The weather was cooler today, a light breeze blowing and the sun was shielded behind white clouds.
"Ask away." Loki smiled, glancing down at me.
"How am I supposed to start over with everyone else?" I asked, pulling my sweater's sleeve over my right hand nervously. I felt oddly small under Loki's gaze and I blushed, keeping my eyes on my feet.
Loki chuckled, seeing my shy reactions to him. "I could show them your memories, or you could just be yourself. Reintroduce yourself to them. Let them know the real you without having to break you from your shell first."
I nodded, holding my hands in front of me now.
"Now I have a question for you." I looked up to Loki, tilting my head slightly. "Why do you always have your right hand covered?"
I hummed, raising a brow before looking down at my right hand. "Oh, uh... it's uh... complicated?"
Loki stopped walking and turned to face me. "Just show me. Please?"
I sighed and nodded, pulling my sweater over my head to reveal my arm. The tank top underneath showing off not only my artificial arm but the scars from Thanos' torture as well. A sight Loki had never seen in person before.
Loki gaped at my arm, gently taking my metallic hand into his own and running his finger along the smooth surface. And oh-so quietly, he whispered to himself. "Wow."
I blushed, looking anywhere but at Loki as he took in the sight of my arm, completely ignoring the ugly scars that scattered across my skin.
"It doesn't bother you?" I asked shyly, finally looking at Loki.
Loki quickly shook his head. "God's no! It's incredible. And your scars...they're..."
"Ugly? Hard to look at?" I frowned.
"Beautiful." Loki smiled, kissing my metal knuckles.
I grinned, relishing in the sight of Loki being so gentle depsite my arm being indestructible.
"What the hell?"
Loki and I both jumped, startled from the sudden voice. I turned my head to look at the owner of said voice.
"Bucky." Loki greeted. "This is...Breean."
"Please, call me Aidan." I smiled, reaching out to shake Bucky's metal hand with my own.
He arched a brow, eyeing my prosthetic as we shook hands quickly. "Name's Bucky. Nice to meet you Aidan."
"Aidan was brought here with another woman named Brunnhilde." Loki explained as he helped pull my sweater back over my head. "It was a misunderstanding, but Aidan's going to, hopefully, be a new recruit."
Bucky nodded. "I like the arm."
"Thanks." I chuckled, covering my right hand instinctively. "Yours is great, too. Vibranium, right?"
"Yeah." Bucky smirked. "You seem smart. Tony'll like ya."
I shrugged. "He thinks I'm a criminal. As does everyone else."
Bucky waved my thought away. "I used to be an assassin and now look. I'm practically part of the family."
"You've lived here since we moved in, Barnes." Loki scoffed. "I'm pretty sure you're family."
I looked up at Loki and smiled.
What about Sam?
He lives not far from here. Said he didn't want to permanently be part of the team if down time was available.
I nodded. "Makes sense."
Bucky furrowed his brows in confusion. "Did you guys just have a conversation without even talking?"
"Yup." I chuckled. "We can do that. Did I mention that I'm a God as well?"
"You sound like Aodh." Bucky rolled his eyes. "But no, you skipped the part about being a god."
"Aidan and I are very similar when it comes to abilities. Breean shares a lot of our gifts as well."
Bucky stared at me for a moment, crossing his arms. "You seem familiar. Like I've met you before."
"I think I would remember you." I chuckled nervously. "W-with the arm and all."
Bucky hummed and nodded. "Well, I'm going inside. It's freezing out here."
I smiled. "Nice meeting you again, Bucky."
"Ditto." He replied as he walked away.
I sighed and relaxed. Realizing how cold I was becoming as well, I shivered, hugging my arms to my body.
Loki chuckled, taking off and draping his jacket over my shoulders and leading me back to the compound.
"Thanks." I hummed, holding Loki's jacket closer to me. "I forgot how easily I get cold. You're lucky."
Loki shrugged. "I feel being sensitive to heat is far worse. But you're welcome none the less."
"You really think I could be a part of the team again?" I asked as Loki opened the door for me. I stepped inside, sighing at the feel of heat hitting my skin again. Following Loki into the kitchen, I slid my arms into his jackets sleeves.
"If you could before then I'm sure you can again." Loki answered, preparing the kettle to make tea. I stepped next to him, watching as he filled the kettle with water.
"Here, let me." I smiled, taking the kettle from him. I heated the water inside with my hands, quickening the process. As Loki took a seat at the island, I made both of us a cup of tea and carefully set them down on the counter top. "You always liked my tea."
Loki smirked, taking a sip of the hot drink and humming in approval. "Damn that's good."
I blushed, snuggling into Loki's jacket as I sipped from my drink as well.
"Uh, dad?"
