By the next morning, Loki was back in his human form and neither of us had slept much. We laid underneath the covers, wrapped around and entangled with one another. We laid on our sides, facing each other and speaking softly.
"Hi." I whispered, watching as Loki fought to stay awake. I tucked a strand of hair behind his ear and gently grazed my finger along his jawline.
Loki hummed with a smile. "Hi." His voice was gruff and deep from both sleep and other things that involve using your voice.
"How are you?" I asked, rubbing Loki's back soothingly. He yawned, pulling himself even closer to me.
"I'm fantastic." He kissed my cheek as he pushed my bangs out of my face. "How are you?"
I smiled, taking in the oddly warm feel of Loki's kisses. "I'm absolutely wonderful. All thanks to you."
"Me?" Loki mumbled into my neck. "You're the one that made the first move."
I sighed as Loki began to bite at my neck, leaving small kisses behind each nibble. I gripped his shoulder and snaked a hand into his hair as he continued. I tugged at the locks, gaining a gravelled moan from Loki.
"Mischief..." I breathed. "We need to get up."
"Oh I'm up." Loki growled, running his hand down my thigh. He grabbed the bottom of my knee and lifted my leg. "Tell me no."
I shook my head. "I don't want to."
Aidan and Loki to the lounge. I repeat, Aidan and Loki to the lounge.
I jumped, as did Loki at the booming sound of Tony's voice on the intercom. We both groaned and reluctantly pulled away from each other like velcro. Once dressed, we both made our way to the first floor and into the lounge. Tony, Aodh and Steve all sat in their own chairs, leaving nothing but the sofa for Loki and myself. We sat down a few inches from each other with a sigh.
"What's up?" I asked, crossing my arms. "I was trying to sleep in today."
"Why?" Tony asked in reply. "Up all night?"
I rolled my eyes with a huff. "Can't a girl get some extra beauty sleep?"
"Alright, we're all adults here." Steve spoke up, leaning forward in his seat. "We know you and Loki slept together last night."
I shrugged. "And?"
"You've only known each other for less than two months." Tony added. "A bit soon for sex, isn't it?"
"Like you've never slept with a girl the same night you met her." I shot back with an arched brow.
"This isn't about me." Tony hissed. "This is about you and Loki."
"What about us? Like Steve said, we're all adults here so what's the big deal?" I asked, glancing between Tony and Steve.
"It's inappropriate. You're practically co-workers." Tony crossed his arms. "Besides, don't you and Buck have a thing?"
"I don't know what you're talking about." I growled.
"Oh please, I saw what happened between you two in the kitchen. Loki did too." Tony smirked.
"I don't have any feelings for him. I didn't even want to kiss him."
Tony hummed. "Yeah alright. Anyways. This right here, you and reindeer games, it can't happen."
"And who are you to tell me what I can and can't do?" I hissed, leaning forward in my seat.
"I'm the man that can have you thrown in prison. I'm the man that gave you your arm. I'm the man that gave up everything for this team and I'm not going to let you take that away!" Tony yelled, standing from his chair. I stood as well, standing only inches apart from him.
"What happened to you? Who shoved a stick up your ass and made you such a jerk?!" I yelled in return, droplets of spit landing on his cheek.
Tony's face contorted from anger to confusion. "What did you just say?"
"Aidan." Loki spoke, standing behind me. I turned my head to look at him. He held out a warning hand, his ring finger no longer bare as he had, at some point, put on his wedding band.
"I can't do this anymore." I frowned, turning to face Tony. "Loki that magic you showed me. Do you think I can do it?"
Loki sighed. "Yes. You almost have it perfected."
I nodded, staring at Tony. "Just, try not to freak out?"
With that, I pressed my hand to Tony's forehead just as Loki had done to me almost two months ago.
Tony's eyes closed and after a moment, he fell to the floor with a loud thud. He groaned, rolling onto his side and holding himself up with his elbow.
"You alright, Tones?" I asked, slowly stepping towards him. I knelt down to his level, resting a hand on his shoulder. He jumped away from me in a panic, looking around the room frantically. "Hey, hey! It's alright, it's just me!"
Tony breathed heavily, glaring up at me with wide eyes. "What was that?"
"My memories. The same ones that were taken from you." I answered sadly. "I'm so sorry, Tony."
Tony shook his head as he stood. He backed away from me.
"You have to leave."
Loki spoke up, taking a step closer to the both of us. "Stark, wait."
"No! She's gone, now." Tony stared at me. "Leave."
I said nothing and nodded, slowly making my way upstairs and packing a few of my things. I frowned, pulling my bag over my shoulders and staring down at my left hand. I slipped off my ring and set it onto Loki's nightstand, next to a copy of a poem I had written over two years ago.
'He knew.
From the moment he laid his eyes on her, he knew that he was hers. From the moment they shared their first words, he knew that he was going to fall in love with her. From the moment they first kissed, he knew that he was completely and utterly in love. From the moment he asked her to be his, he knew that he wanted to marry her. From the moment they shared their first night in a heat of passion, he knew he wanted a family. From the moment their first child was born, he knew what happiness truly felt like. From the moment he proposed, he knew that they would spend the rest of their lives together.
But what he didn't know was that she was forced to go. Despite saying yes and feeling all the same, she had to go. She left, and took those memories and feelings from him. He was left with their child and a life without her in it. Except it didn't matter. For she didn't exist in this life.'
