Please Don't Forget Me...
Chapter 6(Jacks POV)
"She's gone, this time, for good." I softly cried, my voice breaking as my throat began to close in. My whole face was hot, with salty tears slowly rolling down my cheeks, hitting my lips, making my tastebuds seize up because of the bitterness. Zach came jogging down the stairs, jumping down the last step. "All of her stuff is gone!" He painted, catching his breath. "Guys stop being stupid." Jonah lightly smiled, playfully hitting Zach on the shoulder.
"Jonah this is serious! Do you really think I would cry over a joke?" I yelled, my body lightly jerking up and down as I choke on my tears, trying to get the words out. Jonah's face slowly dropped from a smile to a concerned frown. His eyebrows furrowed together as he stepped forwards and gently took the piece of paper from my hands. Daniel, Zach and Corbyn surrounded Jonah. All there eyes were scanning back and forth, reading Sammy's words, trying to believe that all this was real.
I sat down on a stool at the kitchen counter, rested my elbows against the marble top, and buried my head in my hands. Although I had only read the note once, certain sentences stuck out in my mind, replaying over and over again. 'I left because it's for the best and I had no choice, I can't let this ruin your career.'
My career? I thought. How could Sammy possibly ruin my career, and I know for a fact that there is always another choice.
"She's really gone?" Corbyns voice broke through, startling me as I was caught up in my thoughts. "Yeah." Daniel replied, his voice trailing off as he stared at the ground. His face was very pale, almost green. Mixed emotions were running through my mind and body. I was so confused, angry, sad and worried.
I didn't know why she would have suddenly left, and I knew that it must have been bad. I know she would have told me if it was serious, but this, this must have been extremely bad.
"Why?" I said quietly. "Why would she just— leave?" "She said that she didn't have a choice."
Zach answered. "How do we even know it's her?" Jonah said, crossing his arms over his chest. " We don't know where she is, or if she's with someone. I mean what if she's been kidnaped or taken? How do we even know she was the one that wrote this note?
I could instantly feel my heart rate increasing.
The few words that really stuck out in my mind was 'please don't come after me.' "What if she was kidnaped, and the kidnapper wrote this note as a cover up?" I suggested. "No." Daniel said blankly, staring at the ground. "She wasn't kidnaped." All of our attention focused on Daniel. He knew something. "How do you know?" Corbyn questioned. Daniels face turned even greener, and his eyes lifted from the floor up to the note. "Do you know something that we don't?" I asked, becoming frustrated. "No, no, I don't know anything."
(Daniels POV)
I lied. "It's her handwriting, only she writes her S's like that." I pointed out, tracing the letter S that started her name at the bottom of the page with my finger. It was connected to the 'a' with a little loop and the end of its tail. "Sammy is the only person I've ever seen write an S like that, she had to have been the one to write the note." Jack took hold of the letter, nodding as he agreed with me. "So how do we find her?" Jack asked. The room fell silent. The only noise was the ticking of the wall clock in the living room. "We don't." I whispered. "What?" Jack said, wiping away a tear from his cheek. "We don't find her, she obviously doesn't want to be found." "Who's side are you on?" Jack asked, his voice growing stronger. "Look, I know she won't stay away forever. Give her time, she'll come around." I know that this isn't what Jack wanted to hear, but Sammy was in a really difficult place right now. She needed time to pull herself together and understand what was happening to her body, and how to handle it. "I'm calling her." Zach interrupted, pulling his phone out of his pocket. Jack did the same thing, shaking off the dirty look he was giving me. I knew Sammy wasn't going to pick up so I sat down at the kitchen counter and watched as Jack and Zach desperately tried to get ahold of her. Their fingers tapped away at their phone screens, searching through their contacts to find Sammy's number. "I'll call her." Zach said, tapping his screen once before holding his phone up to his ear. "Alright, I'll text her." Jack responded. Corbyn and Jonah looked at me and I shook my head. They understood what I meant and sat down next to me. "She's really gone, isn't she?" Corbyn whispered in my ear.
"Yeah, I think she is." I lied. I knew for a fact that she was never coming back. The three of us watched Zach listen for the ringing to stop and Sammy's voice to appear on the other end. Every time the call reached the final amount of rings, Zach would end it and start all over again. While Zach was trying to call her, Jack was messaging her, trying to get a response. Even a single 'read' at the bottom of his message would be enough for him right now. He just needed to know that she was safe.
5 minutes later Zach gasped, disturbing the silence. "What!" Jack shouted, moving closer to Zach. "Did she answer?"
"No." Zach said quietly. "She's declining my calls. See—" As soon as Zach called her, it would ring one tone and then cut off.
"Wait, if she's purposely declining, that means she's on her phone." Jack said, a light bulb going off in his head.
(Jacks POV)
I began texting and texting and texting, trying to get a response. 'Sammy?' 'Babe please come back.' 'I need to know you're okay.' 'Sammy?' 'Please come home.' 'I miss you so much.' 'Please, please answer me.' 'I love you.'
'Baby you're really starting to scare me.'
At this point I had given up. I clicked off my phone and sat down on the couch, burying my head in my hands. The room was almost silent. The only thing you could hear was the sound of me quietly sobbing. I felt a hand on my back that moved its way up around my shoulder.
"It's alright." Jonah whispered. "We'll get her back, I know we will." Suddenly my phone dinged, indicating a text message. I grabbed my phone out, faster than the speed of lightning. My eyes widened as I read the screen through my blurry, tear filled eyes. "Is it Sammy?" Zach asked. My face scrunched up almost as if I had just sucked on a lemon. Tears rapidly started falling from my eyes, landing on the screen. I looked up at Zach and nodded. It was her....
