Please Don't Forget Me...
Chapter 31

(Noah's POV)
As I was walking backwards, I smiled at Sammy as she walked into the lobby and disappeared. My smile dropped as soon as she was out of sight. Jack was back in her life. This was bad, for me. Yes, I wanted her to tell him she was pregnant when we met, but now, after spending all this time with her. I think I'm in love with Sammy. She's the sweetest girl I've ever met. She's beautiful, funny, loving. How could I not fall in love with her. She's has been so strong through her pregnancy, which is another thing about her that I admire. It's not fair that Jack has wormed his way back into her life after not being with her for 8 months. I know that he didn't know where she was or why she left, but he should have come looking for her if he wanted her that badly.
If I was dating Sammy, and she all of a sudden disappeared, I would have searched every inch of the earth until I found her. Sammy doesn't deserve Jack, he got her knocked up after all.
All I wanted to do, is be there for Sammy and the twins. If Jack steals her and babies away from me, I don't know what I'll do. I don't have a job, Alex is in LA, my mum is dead, and my Dad has a new family. Sammy is my life now, I'm not letting Jack take her away from me, and I'll do it whatever it takes to keep her away from him.
As I walked along the footpath, my head down, I accidentally bumped into a guy.
"Sorry." I mumbled, my eyes focused on the ground.
"My bad." The voice responded.
I stopped in my tracks and turned around.
The guy was walking quickly towards the Eureka, a cap over his eyes. I couldn't see his face. I watched him for a moment before turning around and continuing my walk.
I could have swore he had an American accent.
A little chilly wind hit me, giving me goosebumps. I quickened my pace, getting to the restaurant 'Grilled' twice as fast.
Sammy and I had been here many times before, so I knew her regular order.
A few short minutes later, I was on my way back to the apartment with a takeaway bag filled with 2 burgers and thick fries.
As I crossed the road and onto the footpath that lead to our building, I saw an ambulance driving off in the opposite direction than the way I was walking. I tried to peer inside but I couldn't see anything. Worried, I pulled out my phone and pressed Sammy's contact, moving the phone up to my ear as I jogged a short distance back to the building. I let it rig once, twice, 7 times before the call got disconnected. I tried again as I walked through the lobby.
"Oh Noah!" Alex's ex girlfriend yelled from behind the front desk.
"Not now." I said, pressing the button to the elevator.
"But!" She began before I cut her off.
"I said not now!"
She moaned before mumbling something to herself. The elevator doors opened and I walked inside, pressing the button labeled 88.
I was praying that Sammy was in the apartment, and not in the back of that ambulance. 10 centuries later, I finally got up to our floor. I rushed in, setting the bag of food on the dining table. "Sammy?" I yelled, walking into her room. "Sammy?" I repeated. No response. Her bathroom door was closed so I hoped that she took my suggestion and decided to take a bath. "Sammyyy?" I sung, knocking on the door. "Are you in there?" No response.
"I'm coming in." I yelled, turning the doorknob to the right. I walked in, looking down at an empty bathtub. "Shit." I sighed.
Suddenly my phone started ringing and I grabbed it out of my pocket, lightning fast. The caller wasn't in my contacts so it came up with 'No Called ID' I was hesitant at first, but answered with a 'hello?'
"Noah right?" The voice asked.
"Yeah, that's me." I replied.
"Thank god, its Daniel, Daniel Seavey, you need to get to the hospital right away, Sammy's in labour and she wants you!" He quickly said.
"I'm on my way!" I responded, running back into the elevator, ending the call.
Before I pressed the button to go down, I remembered the hospital bag Sammy and I put together last week. It was full of spare clothes, baby things and a list of possible baby names we thought of together. I knew the gender of the babies, so in my head, I thought of a few names Sammy might like to consider.
I ran into Sammy's room, grabbed the bag off her bed, and ran back into the elevator, pressing the 'down' button.
There was no time to call a taxi or order an Uber so I obviously had to run. The hospital was only a few blocks away and would take me no time at all. I gripped the bag firmly in my hand and began running along the busy footpath, lightly pushing people out of the way, apologising multiple times.
-
By the time I reached the hospital, my heart was beating very fast and my legs were tense and warm. Daniel greeted me at the front entrance, pulling me along to Sammy's room.
When I walked in, my hands formed into fists.
Jack was by Sammy's side, holding her hand, kissing her on the forehead as she was moaning whilst trying to push. Her eyes were closed, her face scrunched up, tense and red.
When she stopped pushing, she relaxed a little, opening her eyes.
"Noah." She whispered, looking in my direction.
"I'm here, I'm here." I said, rushing to her side.
A tall, broad guy that I didn't know, let go of Sammy's other hand, reserving it for me.
I lightly nodded at him, meaning thankyou. He nodded back. I guess he must be one of Jacks bandmates. As I knelt down on both of my knees, I grabbed her hand, staring Jack in the eyes. I gave him the dirtiest look, which he returned. It was clear we did not like each other.
"I can see the first babies head!" The doctor said, smiling. "I need you to give me one more big push Sammy."
"Okay, Okay." She puffed, her forehead sweaty because of how hard she was trying.
"You can do this." Jack said, kissing her hand.
She nodded at him, before looking at me.
"You got this." I whispered.
She took a breath before looking forward, squeezing both of our hands as she screwed up her face, closing her eyes, grunting and yelling as she gave one last push.
"Keep going keep going!" The doctor pressured.
"Aaaaughhhhh!" Sammy whined.
"There we go!" The doctor exclaimed before his face dropped.
"Oh no." He said, grabbing a pair of small metal scissors.
"What! What's wrong!" Sammy asked, fear in her voice and on her face.
The doctor pressed a red button on a little machine attached to his belt, triggering an alarm.
"What's happening!" Jack yelled, his eyes glossy.
Sammy looked at Jack, her face flooded with tears. The doctor began cutting something with the scissors before speaking.
"The umbilical cord is wrapped around the first baby's neck, it can't breathe....."
