Please Don't Forget Me...
Chapter 32(Sammy's POV)
Aaaaughhhhh!" I screamed, giving one last push, with all my might. I held my breath and closed my eyes until I heard my doctor talk.
"There we go!" The doctor exclaimed.
I was so relieved. One down, one to go. I opened my eyes and looked at the doctor. His face dropped as I felt something tugging down in my lady area.
"Oh no." The doctor said, reaching over to a metal tray that was on top of a wheely platform positioned next to his right arm. He grabbed a pair of small metal scissors, inserting his fingers into the two grips, bringing the scissors underneath the blanket.
My heart was in my throat, as I waited for an explanation as to why he reacted like he did.
"What! What's wrong!" I asked, fear in my voice and on my face. Corbyn, Jonah, Zach and Daniel were looking at the doctor with wide eyes as he pressed a red button on a little machine attached to his belt, triggering an alarm. The sound of a woman's pre recorded voice filled not only the room, but the entire hospital.
"Urgent assistance required in room 23." The voice echoed. "Room 23."
"What's happening!" Jack yelled, his eyes glossy. The sound of many heavy footsteps came from outside my room, and a swarm of nurses rushed in through the door.
I looked at Jack, as silent tears ran down my face. He looked me in the eyes and squeezed my hand, giving me a long kiss on the forehead. He didn't know what was happening either so he was just as worried, but I appreciate him putting on a brave face.
I felt more tugging in between my legs, and I could hear the sound of the scissors cutting through something.
"Why isn't the baby crying?" I asked, my voice extremely shaky, full of panic.
Noah was holding my other hand, looking even more worried than I was.
"The umbilical cord is wrapped around the first baby's neck—" the doctor began, as nurses moved around the room, bringing across a cot with a plastic square dome over the top, a machine with all these cords attached, and a little breathing apparatus.
"The baby can't breathe." He said with a stern voice.
I let out a few short, rapid breaths before even more tears rolled down my cheeks.
I had to do something, but I knew there was nothing I could do to help. Jack rested his head on the side of my face as I watched the doctor lift up my baby, and place it in the cot. Immediately, nurses swarmed around it, applying the breathing apparatus to the baby's face, and pressing down with two fingers near its heart. My baby's face was a purpley blue colour, it's body so small, so frail. Every second I waited for a cry, the more worried I got. I thought it was going to die for sure.
I closed my eyes and sobbed against Jacks head, not knowing if it was his tears or mine that were falling onto the bed sheets.
Half way through a sob, I heard a sound that made my heart stop and turn into warm goo.
A cry.
My baby's first breath of air.
I opened my eyes and so did Jack, we looked at our baby together, light smiles on our faces.
I looked across to the rest of the guys as they lifted their heads out of their hands, their mouths open and eyes wide in surprise.
I watched as my baby regained colour in its face and started moving its little arms and legs.
Tears were still running down my face, but this time, they were happy ones. Noah looked extremely relieved, running his spare hand through his hair, letting out a thankful sigh.
The nurses smiled at each other as they hooked my baby up to machines that were going to monitor its condition. My doctor took a few short steps back to my legs and set his scissors back down on the metal tray. For a minute I questioned why he was still looking at my lady area, but that was when I realised, I had another baby to deliver. My contractions had seemed to stop, so now it was all me.
"Are you ready to go again?" The doctor asked, looking up at me.
I nodded, before gripping Jack and Noah's hands tightly.
"Anddd push." He said softly.
Once again, I closed my eyes, held my breath and pushed as hard as I could, until I couldn't hold my breath any longer.
"Just a few more." The doctor said, staring into the blanket.
"Come on Sammy you can do this." Jonah said hopefully.
"Yeah, I know you can." Daniel added, grinning at me.
I gave them a little nod, before turning to Jack.
We looked into each other's eyes and he lightly smiled at me. I took a breath and faced my head forwards. I could still hear the cries of my first baby which made me push even harder. I wanted to have 2 babies screaming in my ears, as annoying as that sounds, it was true. All I wanted was two healthy and happy babies.
As I gave my last push, the doctor kept telling me to 'keep going, keep going' until finally I heard the cry of my second baby and the biggest bullet of relief hit me in the face.
"Congratulations." The doctor smiled.
"Your second child is in perfect condition."
"Let me see!" Zach said, standing up.
Jonah pulled him back before he could see any of my, you know what.
"Zach I swear to god." Jack threatened, giving Zach a glare.
"Oh right sorry, I forgot about that." He mumbled, an apologetic look on his face.
"Sure you did." Jack snarled, while pulling my hand up to his lips, and lightly kissing it before returning it to my side.
The nurses wrapped both of my babies up in little blankets, containing their moving little arms and legs. I sat upright as two nurses brought each baby over to me and Jack.
My heart fluttered as the first born baby was lowered into my arms. I stared down at its little face as it was crying loudly. I watched as Jack instantly fell in love with his second child, rocking it back and fourth in his arms. He looked down at me and the other baby, falling in love all over again.
"They have your nose." I smiled, whispering to Jack.
"Would you like to know the genders?" A nurse asked.
I had been so caught up in trying to deliver both babies, that I had completely forgotten that I didn't know the genders yet.
"Yes please." I whispered, my voice tired from all the sobbing and screaming.
"Jack, Sammy, friends—" she began.
"Say hello to..."

Last chance to guess the genders!
Bonus points if you get the names right.
Here's a hit, one has the same name, but different spelling, as to someone who was close to Zach.
