Please Don't Forget Me...
Chapter 37

(Jacks POV)
I awoke to the sound of several beeping machines, and mummers coming from the people surrounding me. A beam of light shone in my eyes as I opened them, escaping the darkness. The blank white roof filled my vision as I blinked a few times, confused as to where I was.
"He's awake, thank god." I heard Daniels voice say, followed by the cries of a baby.
I rubbed my eyes and slowly sat upright in my hospital bed.
Hospital bed?
Suddenly everything came rushing back to me. The beeping, crying, yelling, flashing. I must have passed out from all the commotion.
I hardly had time to take a breath before Daniel lowered the crying baby into my arms.
I looked at her for second, confused as to why I had been given some random baby, when my brain clicked and I remembered that this baby, was my baby. I stared down into Auroras eyes and she immediately calmed down, softening her cries.
"I think she's hungry." Daniel said, as I smiled down at Aurora.
"I think they both are." Jonah added, nursing a second baby, my second baby, Jordyn.
I looked to my right where all the guys were sitting and realised that the mother of my children was not with them.
"Where's Sammy?" I asked, slightly bouncing my arms up and down to calm Aurora.
Zach nodded in my direction and I turned my head to the left.
Sammy lay in a bed next to me, her eyes closed, closely monitored by various machines.
"Is she alright?" I asked, worried.
"Yeah, she just took a bump to the head, right after giving birth. She should wake up soon, it's already been 5 hours." Corbyn replied.
"5 hours?" I exclaimed. "I've been out for 5 hours?"
All the guys nodded slowly.
"But, we have a show in 3." I stated, giving the guys wide eyes.
"Don't worry we've already been to sound check, we're all set, and the nurses took care of the twins whilst you were both out." Jonah reassured me.
I let out a sigh of relief and looked down at Aurora who had her 5 little fingers wrapped around 1 of mine.
"Ohhh—" Zach began. "There's also something you should know."
I looked up at him whilst he pulled out his phone. He tapped on his lock screen a few times before turning the illuminated device in my direction. It was a news article titled:
SAMANTHA KELLEY PREGNANT!
HER AND JACK AVERY SPOTTED TOGETHER IN HOSPITAL.
My lips curved into a frown.
"You've got to be kidding me." I whispered.
Just then I heard a loud sigh coming from beside me. Sammy groaned as she sat upright in her bed, rotating her neck in a circle, her bones cracking.
"What happened?" She asked, drowsily.
"Noah knocked you to the ground." Jonah replied, standing up, bringing Jordyn to her.
"Oh yeah." She remembered, cradling Jordyn in her arms.
Without hesitation I showed Sammy the article.
"The press know—" I said calmly. "About you, about us, about... them." I whispered, looking down at Aurora and then across to Jordyn.
Sammy let out a big sigh before slowly shaking her head. "Well everyone was going to find out sooner or later—" she began. "we can't hide them away forever. I'm just glad I don't have to keep them a secret from you anymore."
I didn't comprehend what she had said until a few seconds later.
"Wait, you weren't going to tell me about my own daughters?" I asked, a firm expression on my face.
"I—" she began, but was cut off by Daniel.
"This seems like a..... personal matter—" he said awkwardly. "We're just gunna leave." He added, standing up with the rest of the guys, leaving the room in a hurry.
There was a silence between Sammy and I before I repeated my question again.
"You weren't going to tell me about them?"
"I- I didn't know how." She stuttered.
"What do you mean you didn't know how?" I asked, my voice growing in volume.
"How was I supposed to tell you that you have two daughters, when I broke your heart and left without saying goodbye, with no communication for months and months?!" She yelled, her voice becoming shaky.
"A phone call would have been nice!" I yelled back.
"Oh right—" she sarcastically laughed. "Hey Jack what's up? Just letting you know that I am the mother of your t-two baby girls which you will never see because you probably h-hate my guts and don't want to be apart of their lives, cause it will r-ruin your career. Oh and how are the guys? Having fun without me?
See Jack, it wouldn't work. You would have gotten so angry with me, you're a-angry right now, I couldn't live w-with myself."
My heart dropped to my stomach as I watched her cry, feeling terrible about myself.
I got out of my hospital bed and set Aurora down in her temporary crib, before getting under Sammys bed sheets, sitting next to her.
"I'm not mad." I sighed calmly, wrapping my right arm around her shoulders, her head resting in the crook of my neck.
"I overreacted." I whispered. "I know it must have been a hard decision."
"Hard? I thought about you every night. I thought about how I could tell you, or even if I was going to tell you. It was the biggest decision of my life."
There was a short silence before she spoke again.
"But I mean, you're here now, and we're all good. Right?" She asked, looking up into my eyes.
"Right." I smiled back, leaning in for a kiss.
She did the same and our lips connect for a few seconds before being interrupted by two piercing cries.
"Oh boy I'm never going to get used to that sound." I chuckled, getting out of the bed and lifting up Aurora.
"I think someone's hungry." Sammy laughed, kissing Jordyn on the forehead.
-
For the next half an hour, I caught Sammy up on all the news and gossip that she had missed out on while she was breastfeeding the twins.
They seemed to latch on quickly and didn't cause Sammy any extreme pain.
I told her about the 8 letters tour and she listened to our album for the first time.
We both teared up as we listened to 8 letters, the song that I wrote about her.
I was so thankful that she was back in my life.
One question that had been replaying over and over again in my mind finally found its way out of my mouth and into the air around us.
"Sammy—" I began. "Will you please, please, please come home? Back to LA? We all miss you, and I don't want the girls to grow up without a father, it's not fair on them."
"Jack I—"
"I'm begging you. Please." I said, gripping both of her hands in mine, holding them to my lips.
"I-I'm sorry......."
